Coupled with the $5.3 million received from the State, the total is a 9 million dollar raise for full-time teachers. This raise also includes everyone in the LCTA bargaining unit such as guidance counselors, media specialists, school psychologists and other full-time resource teachers.In summary:Every teacher and member of the bargaining unit will receive between $3,000 and $5,700 depending on years of experience and based upon a 7.5 hour day.Beginning teacher pay will increase from $37,548 to $43,304. Also approved was the additional Teacher Planning Day of November 2 to help prepare for the 2nd nine weeks. The two Teacher Planning Days are Friday, October 30 and Monday, November 2, which are no school days for students. Please refer to the updated District calendar at www.leonschools.net for clarification on the 2020-2021 school year. On Thursday, October 15, LCS began the initial phase of disbursing Chromebooks at Woodville K-8 School. Two more schools in the pilot program-Cobb Middle School and Desoto Trail Elementary School-will receive their Chromebooks next week. More details to come on further roll out of the Chromebooks and returning desktops to schools. Starting next Monday, October 19, R. Frank Nims and Augusta Raa Middle Schools will join Fairview Middle School as a One Stop Meal Pick-Up site. Meals (breakfast and lunch) will be served curbside Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.A parent or student may pick up meals for all students, even if they attend different schools. The meals are for any child 18 years-of-age and under.
