These FAQs are now available on the College’s website athttps://www.cmo.on.ca/covid-19/Midwives of Muskoka is implementing strictmeasures to prevent infection by coronavirus in our pregnant clients. We are asking you to work together with us to minimize risk to yourselves and the community.Atthis time, you can expect a reduced in-personvisitation schedule, shorter visitsand sometelephone contact from your midwife while infectionconcerns remain heightened. We ask that if you are given an in-person appointment you attend without family or friends, including children, do not arrive before your scheduled appointment time, and wash your hands upon arriving. We are disinfecting surfaces and equipment between appointments so you may have to wait if you arrive early. Our administrative staff will not be interacting directly with the public. Our waiting area and lending library are closed. These measures arenecessary to protect your health by reducing yourinteraction with other clients and clinicpersonnel. Ontario Midwives provide primary care for women with low riskpregnancies. Our philosophy is based on informed choice by the woman,choice of birthplace, and continuity of care.As amidwifery client, we hope you will develop a trust and confidence inyour midwife and in yourself that will enable you to take responsibilityfor your own well-being. You will make the decisions and choices aboutyour care based on information and education received from yourmidwife and other sources, and you will receive support for the choicesyou make.In Ontario, the practice of midwifery is based on the principles of: · Continuity of care with a small group of midwives · Informed choice for decision-making · Choice of birthplace MoM midwives have hospital privileges at: · Huntsville District Memorial Hospital · Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital · South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Midwives are regulated health care professionals who provide primarycare to women throughout pregnancy, labour and birth, and to mother andbaby for six weeks following the birth. Midwifery services are fully funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.
