Event Guide for free Events in Greater Dublin

The Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) is Dublin's most popular event magazine that focuses on the vast amount of cultural events for no admission charges. For more than 11 years it was a weekly e-mail magazine that listed, described and recommended 170-200 free cultural events in Dublin City and in the Greater Dublin area. Gigs, Festivals, Talks, Lectures, Exhibitions and much more for all age groups were included. After 600 editions, the Dublin Event Guide was semi-retired and now continues in a new format.

The Dublin Event Guide is a non commercial initiative and is published by Joerg Steegmueller, it has more than 24,000 readers. Instead of a weekly e-mail, there is now an e-mail only when significant events happen and you can subscribe for free on the right here --

This site contains the newest edition below and is updated as soon as it is completed (check the date!). But even if there is no new edition here, you probably find some event information on the Dublin Event Guide Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/DublinEventGuide!

The newest Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) below was posted on 20 November 2021:

Dublin Event Guide 733: Another Christmas Lockdown? Job Expo, Botanic Gardens Tours, Iconic Offices Webinars

Dublin Event Guide FacebookDublin Event Guide WebsiteHelp with a DonationAnother Christmas Lockdown?

Job Expo, Botanic Gardens Tours, Iconic Offices Webinars

Hi all!

The signs are not good!

The numbers are still high and are not shifting much. The rules continue to be silly and logic and sense have left the building (As if closing nightclubs at midnight will make any difference, especially because they now just open earlier!).

And what we hear from other countries is mainly bad news. (Full lockdown in Austria for at least 10 days.) And back home? Yesterday, Germany has declared Ireland as a High-Risk Area. And the local experts tell us that the models, which were always wrong anyway, dont really tell us very clearly how bad it will get. Hmmm.

That is not great news for the upcoming Christmas period! Officially no events have been cancelled yet, as far as I can see. But I have heard about a range of events where cancellations are seriously considered.

If anybody asked me for a recommendation, I would suggest to get Christmas presents as soon as possible (that can never do any harm), to live a little now (in case life will be put on hold again), but not to go too crazy. Indoor venues are not the best idea. Still! So putting on a warm coat and meeting your friends for a walk in the park might be a better solution. Online events are here to stay for another while and in all honesty they might have a place in our life for different reasons even long term.

But nevertheless, we obviously ALL hope that in-person events will re-start again soon. Just dont lose your patience yet!

Last weeks Dublin Event Guide arrived a little earlier with you and I will do my best to continue this direction! But now I really really need your help with Facebook!

The Facebook Reach has dropped dramatically and the only way to get it back to a level where it makes sense to post the weekly event list on Facebook is with your help! Facebook has three things they want you to do when you see a post you appreciate. If I mention them here, they will punish me for it :-/ so I wont use the words, but they start with L, C and S. PLEASE click on L or S and leave your opinion (i.e. C). I am sure you are getting now what L, C and S stand for. Right?

So, please tell Facebook with your clicks that you want to see these posts and then you will! If you dont say it, then the posts will disappear.

Also, remember that even if Facebook wont show you the Dublin Event Guide posts anymore, you will always get them if you subscribe on www.DublinEventGuide.com . If you like the Dublin Event Guide, you should have subscribed a LONG time ago! It is free and easy and I do not send you any spam. So, ZERO risk and HUGE benefit. :-)

Donations in November:

EUR 372

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter on the left shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week the wonderful people that helped with a donation were Noele, Ashling, Adrian, Amy, Eilis, Maury, Flora, Vladimir! Thank you very much! You are appreciated and your donation is as well!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripes trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesnt work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the Buy Me a Coffee page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

(The odd gaps in words in the text above is to make sure that spam filters dont do silly things with this mail. Talking about a topic like the one above shouldnt disqualify an e-mail, but spam filters are very black and white.)

+++ Visit Dublin Castle for free
Until the end of 2021, entry to Dublin Castle is free for all visitors. You will be able to visit the State Apartments on a self-guided tour. There are currently no guided tours and therefore the Medieval Undercroft and Chapel Royal are not accessible. Opening hours are Mon-Sun Bank Holidays: 09:45-17:45 (last admission 17:15). Tickets can be booked at dublincastle.admit-one.eu/?p=calendarev=SELFGUIDE for free there will also a limited number of tickets available at the ticket desk.

+++ Low Priced Books with free delivery
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository
  .

+++ National Gallery tickets available here
The National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side. Tickets are available here: www.nationalgallery.ie/visit-us/book-your-ticket The National Gallery also is running events again and because the events have limited number of spaces, they can book out relatively fast, at least before I can write about the events, so check out the events 1-2 weeks in advance here www.nationalgallery.ie/whats-on and then book tickets for them.

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related soft skills? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
