Dear BSC Dancers,There is a lot happening in the world. The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and countless others demand our action. As members of a community and a shared humanity, we need to pause and look deeply first, into ourselves and our social networks, and then into the systems and institutions that perpetuate these injustices. We are taking this week off from virtual classes and programming in an effort to create space for other voices to share their experiences and time for us to listen, engage, and act. We realize that in the midst of deep emotion and uncertainty it can be paralyzing to know where to begin. We recommend starting withthispage from Black Lives Matter, andhave linked some additional resources below.Immediate and lasting change requires every single one of us takingconscious steps to demand accountability. Boston Swing Central is a dancer-formed, non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to promoting positive and fun swing dancing experiences in Boston.We have two primary objectives. First, to provide a weekly Friday night dance that caters to the desires of dancers of all levels. This means a dance that is centrally located, on public transportation, and reasonably priced.Second, to champion the diverse voices within our community by remaining open and neutral with regards to information and promotion of other swing dancing events in the greater Boston area and by striving to feature a wide variety of teachers, bands, and DJs.<<< Thank you for your visit >>>
