9th Annual Dinner DanceCanceledThe Executive Board of Michael’s Cause thanks you for your loyal support, and we hope that you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe during these unprecedented times.Given the recent events of COVID-19 and the impacts to the global community, it is with a heavy heart that the Michael’s Cause organization announces that our 2020 major fundraising event, our “Journey for a Cure” Dinner Dance on August 1, will be canceled.Michael’s Cause did not come to this decision lightly. NYC is only in Phase 1 of reopening and with this, there is no way that venues will be permitted to hold large gatherings by the date of our event. After much thought and consideration, the health and well-being of our supporters, colleagues, and Michael is paramount. While we are still working through the details of next year’s event, tentatively scheduled for March of 2021, we hope to maintain your continued support. Michael’s Cause will honor all 2020 ticket purchases as well as journal purchases as credit towards our 2021 event. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions or concerns @ michaelscause@gmail.com.We plan on conducting both our cash and MacBook Air raffles in early July 2020 which will be announced and awarded via our website. More details on that to follow.The Executive Board is currently evaluating the 5k Run/Walk and we plan on updating our supporters in July with the status of this event.Michael's Cause is a sponsor in the 2020 NYC Marathon and has 10 spots dedicated. We are looking to fill the remaining few spots for the race. Michael's Cause was proud to contribute to the St. Peter and Paul and Assumption Food Pantry yesterday with the donation of food that was collected from the supporters of Michael's Cause as well as the Monsignor Farrell Football team. In addition because of funds donated to Michael's Cause we were able to present a check to Father Michael Chichon in the amount of $2500 to help keep the pantry stocked in the upcoming weeks. We want to thank Linda D' Auria Petrocelli and Michelle Petrocelli for making us aware of this very worthwhile cause. Michael’s Cause raises awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and directs all proceeds to the best medical and scientific research to find better treatments and a future cure. Those suffering with Duchenne lose usually lose the ability to walk between the ages of 8 and 12. Join our team in 2020 and run for the boys who have trouble running and walking. This is the 3rd year in a row Michael’s Cause is a proud sponsor in the race. Runners will gain entry into the race. In addition you will receive the NY Road Runners online training program as well as Michael’s Cause running apparel. You will be required to raise $4,000 by Dec 1, 2020 through social media and other donations. We will hold a raffle to help in your fundraising efforts.
