There was a dream I had for as long as I could remember - to work with Sting. And while it might be nice to think about meeting your favorite musical idol, that isn't the feeling I am talking about. I KNEW in my very being that I would work with him. Thinking it was just a matter of time and circumstance, I put that dream aside and focused on Broadway. Each year the world renowned Citrus Singers performs at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for their live Holiday Celebration, televised on PBS. This is the 2017 performance!! My experience with the students of the Performing Arts programs at Citrus College have consistently exceeded my expectations. Whether working with the young musicians, under the extraordinary leadership of Bob Slack and Alan Waddington, or watching the young singers and actors at the “Christmas Is” show, under the direction of Doug Austin, I am deeply impressed with the level of professionalism instilled in them, as well as their joy in the actual 'doing' of their artistic path. - Melissa Manchester"I was a bit skeptical to take Stage Acting in the beginning of the semester. I am always a bit nervous to try something new or to go out of my comfort zone, but I am sure glad I did. This class went beyond my expectations and I cannot wait for another semester of this. I was able to meet great people, come out of my shell a little bit as well as gain some very useful knowledge from a great professor and from colleagues. I have always been interested in movies and television but now I have a new found interest in Theatre." - Kevin Fonseca Melissa Manchester’s extraordinary career began when the native New Yorker signed her first publishing deal at 17. Soon she was backing up Bette Midler as a founding member of the Harlettes and studying songwriting with Paul Simon at New York University. Manchester’s recording of the Peter Allen/Carole Bayer Sager anthem “Don’t Cry Out Loud” delivered her first Grammy nomination for Best Pop Female Vocal Performance in 1979, and she won the award in the same category four years later for “You Should Hear How She Talks About You”. Two of her songs, “Through the Eyes of Love” and “The Promise,” were nominated for Academy Awards in the same year. Citrus College student records are maintained in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and the California Education Code. Written student consent is required for access and release of information defined as educational records in the federal and state laws as described in Citrus College Policy 5180. A student's directory information (student's name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, class schedule, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and most recent previous public or private school attended) may be released upon request unless the Admissions and Records Office receives written notification that a student reserves the right to authorize in writing, on an individual request basis, the access and release of the directory information. Such a notice of restriction will remain in effect until it is countermanded in writing. Additionally, the law provides that a student may request access to the college records which are personally identifiable to that student, and may challenge the accuracy or the appropriateness of retention of information in the college record.
