1972Submitter: This was . . . probably an OK book in 1972? And probably great in our context (small rural town in Michigan s Upper Peninsula about as far as it gets from Brooklyn.) I might take it home and read it. There s a cat named Nader! The boy wants to be a librarian! It was adapted into an After-School Special! But it s 2020. Our current YA patrons mothers are too young for this book. Also, it s a mass market paperback in a library binding the pages are brittle and falling out. It s time to go. Most of the data, addresses, and dollar values are out of date and the entire book is dry and brittle not to mention it lacks contemporary fundraising resources like GoFundMe and others help make this an easy weed.Holly: Oh good, a double-whammy of outdated and falling apart. Perfect for our current COVID-19 times, where every non-profit in town is desperately fundraising.1989This is part of a 15 volume set on country themed art. The books have various themes: Country Kitchen, Country Quilts, Country Style, Country Entertaining, Country Furniture, etc. I guess if you really want to be country-styled this is the set for you. Personally, I think this is probably overkill. This book isn t really for the how-to craft crowd. It is more about stylized decorating with the crafty looking items. I can t imagine what the library was thinking by adding this book. Want to bet it was in a donation pile and someone thought it looked like it was in great shape?1969Submitter: This well loved 1969 copy of John Powell of the Society of Jesus Why Am I Afraid To Tell You Who I Am is filled with underlining and other notations from some past perplexed borrower. Still in print today and time for this copy to move on. Included the creepy clown picture for Mary 2010Submitter: My local public library in Australia sells weeded books for 20c each. I sometimes buy children s books for a holiday program book corner. Usually they are fine, but I always examine them more closely before donating them. Thank goodness I did look more closely at Addie Accident . The cover and basic story are cute and magical, but some of the events are not appropriate for that type of book and overall message of the book is problematic. 1988This website started because I had some serious problems with old job hunting and resume books. Of course in 2007 and 2008, our area was hard hit.  Our own collection was picked clean. The fact that I found several copies floating around was a bit irritating.I will give credit to some chapters on what I will call a self-assessment. However, the discussions on using offset printing, paper, and other non-electronic issues is almost quaint. This book is so out of date, it s ridiculous. The recipes include such delights as: garden salad (it has an avocado!), two different recipes for tuna casserole (one recipe uses curry powder and the other has black olives), meat loaf, peanut butter sandwich, and wheat germ pancakes. I actually want to meet the person that needs a recipe for a peanut butter sandwich.
