Description:

This site covers all mirrorless cameras and related products and is updated regularly.  Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras are covered on dslrbodies.com. Nikon Z Camera Owners: More Info and Articles are available at zsystemuser.com Other Things of Note or Posted Recently on Sansmirror:Wednesday — September 30, 2020Sigma 105mm f/2.8 for Sony E and L mounts has a data pageTTArtisans 35mm f/1.4 for APS-C mountsFriday — September 25, 2020Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 for Sony E mount has a data pageMonday — September 14, 2020Review of the Sony A7R Mark IV cameraSony 24-60mm f/4-5.6 lens for Sony FE mountSamyang 35mm f/1.8 lens for Sony FE mountMitakon 17mm f/0.95 lens for m4/3 mountThursday — September 3, 2020The Fujifilm 50mm f/1 lens for the Fujifilm XF mount has a data page.Wednesday — August 26, 2020The new Yongnuo 85mm f/1.4 lens for the Sony FE mount has a data page.Thursday — August 6, 2020The new Sigma 85mm f/1.4 lens data page.Monday — August 3, 2020I've separated "current" cameras out from "older" cameras in the database now, so that it's easier to pick out the current generation of all models. Other data in the camera section has been updated, and I'm using a new style for the current camera database that makes it easier to parse the relevant data (though that hasn't rolled through the entire set of cameras yet). Because this new front page hides the latest camera firmware updates, I've also added a page that just lists the most recent updates that you can bookmark. I've still got a lot of other work to do on the site to get it to where I want it to be this fall, so more changes are coming.Tuesday — July 28, 2020Fujifilm announced a new EF-60 wireless flash, along with an EF-W1 wireless commander. Monday — July 27, 2020Yes, you're seeing some site changes. I'm trying to simplify and make the site's landing page better for mobile users. Plus it's time for my yearly site cleanup work.Meanwhile, Fujifilm North America announced the launch of a new Fujifilm Professional Services (FPS) program. For US$399 annually, qualifying participants get an additional year warranty, direct telephone/email support, two yearly check/cleans of one camera/lens each time, 30% off expedited repairs, and access to repair loaners.Laowa introduced a 50mm f/2.8 2x macro lens for m4/3.Friday — July 24, 2020Added Zhong Yi Optics to lens database. Almost a dozen new articles have been posed on zsystemuser for Nikon Z owners. Added Laowa L-mount lens addition to lens database. Also, note that I've made a number of site simplifications and design adjustments, and will continue to do that over the coming month. This "front page" is set up now so that mobile users can get to the basics quickly (this site has well over a 1000 pages, which was making the menus difficult to navigate on a small screen device and forced a simpler front page).Wednesday — July 22, 2020Canon has updated lots of RF lens firmware for compatibility with the R5 and R6. See the Canon lens data pages for details. Also the R and RP got firmware updates to support the new f/11 lenses.Tuesday — July 21, 2020Z System User Web site — Got a Nikon Z camera? This is a site you'll want to bookmark Nikon Z5 — Data page for the Nikon Z5Nikkor 24-50mm f/4-6.3 — Data page for the new Nikon lensThe Z5 Introduction — my comments about the Z5 introductionYes, there's coverage of all the new Z things on my new site. I'll continue to cover the Z system here, but there will be more information on zsystemuser.com.Other things the Sansmirror site contains:Thorough and thoughtful reviews by technologist and photographer Thom Hogan of mirrorless cameras from Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony cameras.  Full analysis of the handling and performance of these cameras. Click for Camera ReviewsReviews of Canon EOS M mount, Fujifilm X mount, Nikon CX (1) and Z mount, Olympus and Panasonic m4/3 mount, Samsung NX, and Sony E and FE-mount lenses. Non-nonsense descriptions of how these lenses perform. Click for Lens ReviewsBut there’s much, much more on this site:Articles and essays of interest to mirrorless camera usersCamera database with full feature sets of every mirrorless cameraLens database with full feature sets of every mirrorless lensNews and commentary about mirrorless camerasThis site first appeared separately in 2011—it had been part of another site starting in 2009—after I’d been using m4/3 mirrorless cameras in my photography work for two years. Since then, I’ve expanded the site to its current form, where it covers the entire mirrorless camera marketplace in a way no other Web property does.
