Rather than guess at a re-open date, we will make an announcement when that information is confirmed by the University of Arizona, the College of Education, the TLSS Department and the Director of WOW. Our programming continues where possible, notably with the WOW Teen Reading Ambassadors, and this website continues to update with new content weekly. A new exhibit of original illustrations and picturebooks puts this partnership front and center at the Worlds of Words: Center for Global Literacies and Literatures in the University of Arizona College of Education. Critique to Support and Stretch: A Conversation between Juana Martinez-Neal and Molly Idle is free and open to the public who are encouraged to take in the exhibit and engage in visual critique. WOW CurrentsDonna Bulatowicz and Desiree Cueto, among other guests, discuss the growing representation of under-represented groups in children s literature, where they highlight newer titles that are moving the work forward by reflecting the lives of these groups with depth and complexity for WOW Currents. They also consider how some representations in children s books have remained stagnant and limited to heroic or stereotypical representations. The displacement as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic involves both mental and physical challenges, and yet we need reminders that these can be met critically, creatively and successfully.
