Cancellation of the 2022 Northern BC Home & Garden Show

January 26, 2022, Prince George, BC: Further to the continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, it is with heavy hearts that the Board of Directors of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Northern BC announce the cancellation of (another) Northern BC Home & Garden Show. The 2022 show was scheduled for April 22-24 at Exhibition Park.

For 42 years, people have flocked to the Home Show looking to update their indoor living space and expand outdoor living, plan a major kitchen or bathroom renovation or tackle maintenance projects to replace a sagging fence, a peeling patio, tired flooring or siding, leaky windows, or a sketchy roof. Some are looking to build a dream home or design a suite to accommodate their needs. The majority, delighting in the arrival of spring in our region, arrive to enter to win major prize packages, take in a gardening or a reno workshop, grab lunch and visit with friends and neighbours after a long winter.

“We have a new Green Homes & Energy component as well as programming and events to build on the national Year of the Garden celebrations planned for the April show” shares Terri McConnachie, Executive Director, “we are incredibly disappointed and the cancellation of three annual shows is a heavy burden to our association’s bottom line and a financial hit for vendors. We are, however, a resilient group and understand that things are still fluid. We will announce dates for the next show, shortly, and treasure the support of our community”.

he Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Northern BC has been building communities for more the 60 years and the Home Show is an annual event hosted by the association to celebrate spring and kick- off the busy construction season.

The Northern BC Home & Garden Show is BACK!

The annual spring home show hosted by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Northern BC has marked the arrival of spring in our region for more than four decades, and will host the 44th Show in 2022, following a two-year hiatus.

“As the snow melts and the grass reappears, people are eager to expand their living space to include outdoors” says Executive Officer, Terri McConnachie, “perhaps a renewal of indoor and outdoor space with fresh paint and colour is in order? It is time to get the furnace and ducts cleaned and take care of other post winter maintenance. How has the sundeck surface held up after another winter and perhaps you are ready to plan a larger renovation or talk to a designer or builder about your dream home? Life changes, and the demands on your home will change along with it”.

Cancellation of the 43rd Northern BC Home & Garden Show

March 14, 2020, Prince George, BC: Further to the mandate by the Province of British Columbia thatgatherings of more than 250 people be avoided, it is with heavy hearts the Board of Directors’ of theCanadian Home Builders’ Northern BC announce the cancellation of the 43rd annual Northern BCHome & Garden Show scheduled for April 24-26, 2020, in Prince George, BC.

We are mindful that the COVID-19 declared pandemic is fluid and subject to daily if not hourly updates;our primary responsibility is to contribute to the health and well being of communities in our region.“We want to ensure that vendors, event partners and service providers are provided with as muchnotice as possible so that they are able to adjust their possible travel and staffing plans and perhapsrevisit planned revenue and expense budgets with the absence of the annual home show. There is afinancial impact to the association with the absence of the home show and we will do the same” saysassociation President Jody Tindill “Our deepest regrets, however, our association and community areresilient and we will work together to meet the challenges ahead. We will announce the dates for 2021shortly”.
