Bringing Communities Together With Locally Owned Businesses!

What We Do

Media Partnership Program

Living Local’s mission is to highlight the economic benefits of spending money locally. We have developed relationships with local media outlets and coordinate Quarterly Outreach Campaigns focusing on the benefits of spending money locally and how that transfers to the community. You have probably seen, or heard, Living Local’s message. Newspapers provide Living Local branded pages and then we work with TV and Radio media partners to promote our message to the public. We also use social media, so be sure to connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms. Our current media partnerships include Go Local, MassLive Media, The Republican, The Reminder, El Pueblo Latino, BusinessWest, HCN Healthcare News, 22 News – WWLP, WMAS, Rock 102 – WAQY, Lazer 99.3 and 98.5.

Living Local and BusinessWest, Western Massachusetts premier business publication, have entered into a collaborative partnership to produce the ‘Business Talk’ podcast, with the support of WMAS radio. ‘Business Talk’ consists of interviews with business owners, political leaders, and others managing through the COVID-19 epidemic. The program also highlights local, state, and federal assistance programs.

College Experiential Learning Program

Living Local is collaborating with Western New England College on an Experiential Learning Program for college students which exposes them to real life business situations inside of locally-owned small-mid size businesses. We had a successful pilot program in the first half of 2020 despite the challenges of COVID-19. Our first official cohort will launch in the Fall of 2020.

For Every $100 Spent...

Locally Owned Biz - $68 returns to community! National Chain - only $43 stays local. Online - nothing comes home.

The world and our country are evolving fast, and we need to adapt to new challenges. Over the past years and decades, we have learned that we cannot rely on powerful outside forces, be they public or private, to bring vitality to our home. If we want to maintain and develop the community that we love, it is our responsibility to act and put our money where our mouths are.

Living Local makes this challenge easier than ever. The best way to support the local economy is to participate in it. Until now, finding local businesses committed to reinvesting in their communities could be tedious and challenging. Living Local changes this by curating an easy to navigate directory of local businesses, complete with information about how they support the community, as well as the products and services they provide. As a customer, you can now find a local business sharing your passion to support our community just as quickly as you could place an order from Amazon, with the added bonus of supporting your community and enjoying a more economically impactful shopping experience.

Online Directory

Living Local’s online directory is a platform for businesses to share how they impact the communities in which they operate. Businesses claiming their FREE listing can highlight the non-profit causes they support, and economic data [amount of local purchases, workforce size, etc.] which best illustrates their commitment to the region’s economic vitality. The searchable directory is FREE to the public, allowing them to connect with civic-minded brands.

We will be launching our new online platform in early 2021!

Eat At Locally Owned Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Farms & Farmers Markets

Western Massachusetts has a complete food ecosystem all its own - from local farmers bringing fresh foods to market every summer to the restaurants that prepare those foods into the delicious meals we all know and love. And every part of this ecosystem is supported by customers like you! Whenever you choose to dine at a locally owned restaurant or find ingredients for dinner at your favorite farmer’s market, you are often making a choice that is both healthier and cheaper - a combination not easily found at a national chain.

Shop At Locally Owned Stores & Service Providers

Western Massachusetts has a rich history of production, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This story of the Western Massachusetts economy is still being told today - thousands of local businesses are providing a plethora of products and services, both new and old! The local economy can provide everything from tools, machines, and materials to gifts, clothes, and luxury services. Better yet, local businesses can often provide a better quality product or service than the latest outlet of a national chain.

Get Involved In Your Community, Join Your Chamber & Help Our Communities Thrive!

Perhaps Western Massachusetts’ most valuable resource is its sense of community. The counties, cities, and towns of our home boast dedicated nonprofits, and civically-minded businesses. Each time you get involved in your community, not only do you strengthen the ties that bind Western Massachusetts together, you reap the benefits thanks to the abundance of community resources that exist to help you and the local economy thrive!
