Learn MoreBENEFITS
Jamie's Ministry of Food Australia's benefits go far beyond cooking.
Our participants finish our classes with a greater willingness to try new things and an overall healthier attitude towards food.
Participants also report social benefits including a sense of belonging, improved emotional connections with family and friends, and the creation of new social networks.
We are committed to reaching the most vulnerable in the community including individuals/families on low incomes, single parents, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, people with a disability and the unemployed.
Our Benefits Evaluations
Jamie's Ministry of Food Australia is a proven program which is making a difference to communities nationally. It has been the subject of two extensive independent evaluations by Deakin University and The University of Melbourne.
Both evaluations found that the program increased participants' cooking confidence, knowledge, attitudes and beliefs towards cooking and healthy eating. They also shifted behaviour change towards healthier cooking and eating in the home.
Participants were found to increase their vegetable consumption by over half a serve per day and decreased their spending on takeaway foods, increasing their spending on fresh fruit and vegetables with no overall increase to the weekly spend on food.
Our Evaluations Diet
is the single biggest risk factor for premature mortality and disability in Australia.
6%
of Australians eat enough vegetables. Jamies Ministry of Food Australia is proven to increase vegetable consumption by ½ a serve per day.
27%
of Australian kids are classed as overweight. Kids who learn to cook generally have better diets. These healthy habits formed in childhood carry through to adulthood.
67%
of Australian adults are currently overweight or obese (thats more than 12 million people). This figure has steadily increased from 56% in 1995.

I found this course to be very informative. I am 53 years old and still learnt quite a few new things. We need to have this course available to all ages especially children as cooking nutritious food is a must.
