Please upgrade to a modern browser such as Google Chrome.The January event has been one of Northern Michigan’s staple running events since the late 1980’s.  Held primarily in the Huron Hills area of Traverse City, the event is an annual favorite of the area’s year-round running community.  Members of the Traverse City Track Club can participate in the event FREE of charge.For the 2021 edition the Traverse City Track Club announces the Frozen Foot Race will be offered as a virtual event in light of CoVid-19 health guidelines and permitting precautions,  the event is open for registration through January 30th, 2021.“Going virtual keeps our supporters safely engaged and enables us to remain committed to our mission “to encourage health, fitness, community service, and family recreation, and competition through running/walking events and programs,” said Lisa Taylor, executive director of Traverse City Track Club. With a virtual run/walk, participants register, run or walk the prescribed distance at the location/course of their choice between January 23rd and 30th.  What: Virtual Frozen Foot RaceGet out and complete a Frozen Foot Race of your choosing this year. We recommend a 5 mile effort to keep with tradition but really, it’s all up to you. Run, walk, fast or slow, however you like to stay active right now, we’re all for it!When: Jan 23-30, 2021The virtual event participation period is January 23rd through January 30th, 2021, during that week you can race anytime you’d like. Maybe you’ll hold out for mild temperatures... or maybe you ll wait for the wintriest weather forecast during the week, for once you get to choose your race-day weather. Where: This is up to you! If you are local to Traverse City and love the challenge of the Timberlane Dr hill and want to benchmark your time during this crazy period you are welcome to run the normal race route on your own. Please note there will be no course marking and of course it will be open to traffic so use care and caution as you would on any of your runs or walks. Find the traditional race course information here.If you would like to run any other course and make it your very own Frozen Foot Race that s awesome too, get out there!Limited-Availability Souvenir T-shirts:A special edition Frozen Foot Race Medal t-shirt will be available with limited size runs. Printing of these shirts has already taken place and therefore custom sizing is unavailable this year; instead, shirts and sizes will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. While supplies last, participants can pickup a shirt starting January 30th at the Downtown TC Running Fit location. Please note that there are a limited number of shirts and unfortunately once they are claimed no more will be available.The Downtown TC Running Fit 300 East Front Street Traverse City, MI 49684 (Shirts not available for pickup until January 30th, 2021)Participant Prize Lottery:All Frozen Foot Race participants registered by January 30th will also be entered to win one of 20 gift cards, a small thank you for staying active and to help support our downtown businesses. Participants will be selected at random, and winners notified on February 1st!Virtual ResultsIf you’d like to make your virtual participation official, share your efforts by submitting your results. You can enter your time and see how you stack up with other participants, or simply check off that you participated and let everyone know you’re keeping active!
