Masterpiece PBSis a personal favorite at our house for viewing superb series likePoldark,Downton Abbey, andVictoria. This year, there are two great sets to add to your shopping list: Sanditon Season 1 and Victoria The Complete Seasons 1-3 Collection.
SANDITON, SEASON 1
Sanditon is the fan-favorite series that has everyone beggingfor a second season! Emmy Award-winning writer and Britainsnational treasure, Andrew Davies, adapts Jane Austens lastunfinished novel vividly to life in an epic drama romantics will fallin love with.Upon her arrival in the seaside town of Sanditon, the sensible andnaïve Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams), observeshypochondria, avarice and attempted seduction run amok.
LadyDenham (Anne Reid), is playing matchmaker for her destitutenephew, Sir Edward, who is determined to seduce LadyDenhams ward, Clara and become the primary heir to his auntsestate. The arrival of wealthy, mixed-race heiress Miss Lambe,under the guardianship of visionary entreprenuer Tom Parkers(Kris Marshall), upright and charming, brother Sidney Parker (Theo James), adds an interestingcomplication. Eligible men naturally find Miss Lambe fascinating, while Charlotte is intrigued bySidney
With many promising loose ends and romantic possibilities, how will the young people pair off?Who will Lady Denham designate as her heir? Will Toms tourist spa finally catch on with thepublic? Where will that lead? Andrew Davies imaginatively enters this world of Georgian-erasuitors, hustlers and health cranks and boldly tells us what happens next.
Sanditon may not be your cup of tea if you are a pure Jane Austen fan, as it takes some modern liberties with the story line. It is based upon Jane Austen's unfinished manuscript.
Knowing that, it is still an enjoyable period drama with characters who have interesting quirks, beautiful settings and some of the same Andrew Davies charm you'd expect. It wasn't my favorite of Davies' imaginings, but it has some nods to other Austen characters.
I wouldn't watch it with kids in the room due to its more mature content (backside nudity for example). Andrew Davies wanted to "spice up" Jane Austen's original unfinished story. I don't think it really added much to the plotline to make it more "soapy" personally.The ending left fans seriously unhappy, so it remains to be seen if there will be another season yet.

Victoria will draw you in from the very first episode. It is fascinating to get a glimpse inside life of one of the most influential Queens in England. Some liberties are taken with the historical accuracy, but it only inspires you to research the actual history.
It's a well written drama about the love story between Victoria and Albert. I really hope that they continue with a season 4 at some point!

If 2020 has taught us anything, it is being thankful for the little things and spending quality time with family. This Thanksgiving may be a little different, but we can still celebrate with those we love.
The Croods: A New Age is coming to a theater near you Thanksgiving Day. What better way to celebrate than to spend time belly laughing with family? My kids have been looking forward to this film for a long time!
About the Film:
The Croods have survived their fair share of dangers and disasters,from fanged prehistoric beasts to surviving the end of the world, but now they will face their biggest challenge of all: another family. The Croods need a new place to live. So, the first prehistoric family sets off into the world in search of a safer place to call home. When they discover an idyllic walled-in paradise that meets all their needs, they think their problems are solved except for one thing. Another family already lives there: the Bettermans. The Bettermans (emphasis on the better)with their elaborate tree house, amazing inventions and irrigated acres of fresh produceare a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. When they take the Croods in as the worlds first houseguests, it isnt long before tensions escalate between the cave family and the modern family. Just when all seems lost, a new threat will propel both families on an epic adventure outside the safety of the wall, one that will force them to embrace their differences, draw strength from each other and forge a future together.
Some fun swag arrived at our door to celebrate the theatrical release including two adorable sloth fanny packs, fuzzy creature keychains, a stationary set, and a rock painting kit. My girls adore all things sloth ever since they were introduced to Belt in the first film. The fact that Belt now has a cute pink friend has made them love sloths even more! (AK was so obsessed with Belt as a toddler that she had to bring him with her EVERYWHERE It was so cute to hear her ask for her Belt in that little toddler voice.)
The Croods: A New Age looks hysterical and we are looking forward to screening the film! Be sure to grab your tickets early.
