The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has changed the medical landscape of the East End of Long Island, where breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates are among the highest in New York State.
With a deep commitment to the community, the Foundation gives back by funding state-of-the-art medical equipment and breast cancer screenings at the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center (EHBC) at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and locations in Hampton Bays and East Hampton.
Proceeds also benefit Ellen’s Well, a free psychosocial services program that provides support groups and other healing opportunities.

The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at the Southampton Hospital is proud to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).Learn more about ACR accreditation. The Center offers a wide spectrum of breast health services, including education, early detection screenings, and breast cancer treatment and support. The Center utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques,including tomosynthesis —the most advanced mammography technology —ultrasound, and stereotactic breast biopsy. No patient is turned away from the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center for lack of insurance or inability to pay for treatment.

Ellen’s Run, an annual 5k (3.1-mile) race, is the signature fundraising event of The Ellen Hermanson Foundation and an innovative, grassroots event, that raises awareness about breast cancer. Held on the East End of Long Island, where breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates are among the highest in the state of New York, Ellen’s Run draws on the strength of the community and gives back by providing mammography screenings, support and education.

Funded by The Ellen Hermanson Foundation and administered by the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital Foundation, Ellen's Well is committed to providing the highest level of psychosocial support to its clients through crisis intervention counseling, group support, long-term counseling referral if an individual's needs go beyond the parameters of group counseling, and specially designed programs that support and enhance wellness.

Ellen’s Run is an annual 5K (3.1-mile) race / walk that benefits breast cancer patient support services in the East End community. Now in its 27th year, proceeds from Ellen’s Run enable the Foundation to continue Ellen’s work by funding projects that provide educational outreach and early detection for underserved communities and psychosocial support for breast cancer patients and their families.
