Western Reserve Playhouse is the award-winning, historic theatre of Summit County.

Set in an intimate 95-seat theatre, Western Reserve Playhouse brings refreshing, top-shelf entertainment suitable for all thespians. Our shows are hand-picked to be familiar yet unique, to entertain, and to challenge our audiences. Located in historic Bath/Richfield, our theatre is set in a 160-year old dairy barn, adding to the comforting and rustic atmosphere.

The  WRP Main Stage Season

Western Reserve Playhouse offers an impressive and unique season, from comedy to tragedy, history and contemporary, and plays and musicals. Our shows last year-round in our 160-year old barn, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

Tickets are available per show, but we also offer season tickets and flex passes to all main stage shows – there’s a program for everyone!

Past repertoire includes the classical comedy Tartuffe, the stand-out musical Assassins, the classic Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and the beautiful music and story of The Bridges of Madison County. One performance, a new work from a playwright in London, Tomorrow Morning, earned critical acclaim and awards from a statewide competition.

Our works are critically reviewed and publicized in the Akron and Cleveland news media.

The WRP Education Program

WRP offers year-round learning opportunities for both the young student, and the young at heart.

Classes, workshops, and summer camps are always being planned to offer our students the best. Our Education Director, August Scarpelli, is bringing new ideas and instructors all year round. Recently, we have offered workshops on subjects such as Accents, Theatre History, Preparing for Auditions, Painting Techniques, Puppetry, and many others.

Our summer camps are a must-have for any young thespians! Separated by age groups, each camp has a recognizable and memorable theme, and will teach learners old and new about acting, crafts, and putting on a show.

Our camps and classes generally fill up early, so watch this site and social media often for announcements and updates!

The WRP $5 Bucks Series

In 2020, our $5 Bucks Series turned three years old! This popular Sunday afternoon performance has grown in popularity and attendance each season, with a record-breaking audience at What the Butler Saw, the last reading before the pandemic.

The popularity of these staged readings may be due to its easy way to share a glass of wine with friends while easing back in one of our seats and enjoying the show. And remember, it’s only $5!

Our $5 Bucks Series Coordinator, Jim Fippin, is always looking for new and unique plays to read for you!

The WRP CaBARet Series

Enjoy a glass of your favorite beverage in a chill environment, while our performers sing, dance, and act on the stage! This relaxed atmosphere has the performers sharing a drink with you, and is all about sharing talents and having fun.

We had over 25 performers take part in our first CaBARet – and to a sold-out house! Our second CaBARet performance, taking place virtually, still stands at WRP’s most popular online show.
