Building on a tradition of excellence, Bowling Green Schools lead the way in education for all. In Bowling Green City Schools, we are working to plan for the 2020-2021 school year although many uncertainties exist. This process requires patience and flexibility, and it is difficult, if not impossible to finalize decisions in June to be implemented in August. As you know, the guidance documents for opening schools change on a daily basis, just as Healthy at Work guidelines change, and will continue to change throughout the summer.Kentucky Interim Guidance as of June 2020 (June 24, 2020) Superintendent Gary Fields has announced Candice Candy Peay as the Director of Special Education for Bowling Green Independent Schools. Peay has worked as a teacher at BGHS since 2000 and has served as the Special Education Department Chair since 2015. Bowling Green City Schools are now offering meal deliveries once per week on Thursdaysthrough July 30. Deliveries include seven breakfasts, seven lunches, and one half gallon of milk per child. Open meal sites are available three days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. May 26 - July 30. Any child 18 years of age or younger is able to receive the meals. Children do not have to be present to receive meals.Meal Program Flyer (English) School closures due to the COVID-19 led to the loss of free and reduced-price school meals for many children. Families can now receive help from a program offered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Kentucky Department of Education. All students of Bowling Green City Schools are eligible for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), a program that provides a benefits card to be usedto buy food.The P-EBT is a one-time benefit with eligible households to receive up to $313.50 per eligible student. Program enrollment is automatic for children receiving SNAP, TANF, Kinship Care and Medicaid. Households with children not enrolled in assistance programs must apply for P-EBT benefits atbenefind.ky.govbyJuly 10, 2020.
