Listen Locally
Our community officers are locals who are well-connected to their towns. That lets us become aware of trending issues early, so we can act fast to bring residents’ ideas to life.
Act Quickly
We’re like a start-up accelerator for community-driven ideas. Our goal is to be nimble, moving quickly to help solve problems communities have identified as priorities. Sometimes that help is funding, and sometimes it’s simply connecting people and organizations with resources—and to each other.
Share Widely
We share what we learn and unite communities with advocates, experts, and other funders to amplify impact and quality of life across the Mountain West.
The Solutions Model
LOR looks to the community to define and prioritize solutions that improve livability. Those solutions don’t have to be huge to be effective. Among some of the work we’ve supported: a home repair program that helps long-term Questa, New Mexico, homeowners renovate their houses and rent them at affordable rates to nearby workers; a digital platform that connects volunteers in Lander, Wyoming, to those in need of help; a coworking space in Taos, New Mexico, that also serves as a small business incubator and adult education center.
