The Jud C. Hickey Center specializes in programming for cognitive health and cognitive disorders such as Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer's Disease, or other related dementias. The Center is located in Augusta and is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Our Program

Our curriculum is multi-targeted with sessions throughout the day that work your brain and body and to help you live your best life possible.

The Jud C. Hickey Center programming is designed to combat Alzheimer's with a path to:

Sessions are varied each day, but always include exercise, cognitive stimulation therapy, meaningful projects, interesting and engaging presentations and dialogue, brain workouts, and more.

Programs are delivered by expert staff trained in dementia programming. An RN is on site each day.

Participants attend on a pre-scheduled basis.

Why now?

Our programs are targeted to maintaining health so that individuals do not become depressed, isolated, or in poor physical shape–all factors that have been shown to speed up decline, heighten the risk of falls, and increase hospitalizations.

Our father was diagnosed first with Alzheimer's and soon after, our mother was diagnosed with dementia. Both our parents were not able to drive per the doctor's instructions. Depression set in due to lack of independence from being able to go out when they wanted to. A friend referred us to the Jud C. Hickey Center. Both our parents were reluctant to start, but now look forward to their weekly visits to the Center. Mom and Dad are always dressed and ready for their outings to the center with “let's go” attitude.
