3,...2,...1...We are LIVE! WVS-7 New Data Release is available for downloading now! The World Values Survey Association announces the first release of the latest World Values Survey dataset (WVS-7, V1.0). Fieldwork for this 7th wave was conducted from mid-2017 to early-2020. This includes 77 countries and societies on all inhabited continents around the globe, ranging from Albania, Australia and Argentina to the United States, Vietnam and Zimbabwe, as well as surveys conducted in collaboration with the European Values Study. In total, over 129,000 respondents were interviewed so far for this wave. WVSA Annual Meeting 2020 Similiar to many other organizations and projects worldwide, in 2020 the WVS Association transformed the annual meeting of its Governing Board into into an online conference. The WVSA's governing board held its annual meeting in electronic format on May 6. A number of important issues has been discussed, including WVS-7 survey fieldwork schedule and response to the delays in survey completion caused by COVID-19; WVS-7 data release; WVSA General Assembly in 2021; improvements into the WVS-7 data cleaning procedures and survey wave deliverables; first plans for the WVS-8 survey round. Values in a Crisis Survey: Invitation for Participation An international team of scholars under the leadership of the WVSA Vice-President Prof. Dr. Christian Welzel (Leuphana University Luneburg) is organizing a 3-wave "Values in Crisis" survey. The survey aims to study people' values now during the corona-pandemic (wave 1), shortly after the pandemic ceases (wave 2) and in approximately 1 year from now (wave 3). Self-administered 20-minutes online questionnaire is the main instrument. The survey will take place in Germany and the UK, and the team is looking for academic groups and public opinion research institutes who might be interested to expanding the study to their countries. ONE POSTDOC SCHOLARSHIP Leuphana University of Lüneburg offers one Postdoc Scholarship at the Chair for Political Culture Research with a thematic focus on “comparative public opinion, political psychology and/or political behavior” at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, starting June 1st 2020. WVSA coordination team at the WVS7 survey training in Uzbekistan Last week a WVSA delegation gave public lectures at the Institute for Research of the Youth Problems and Training Prospective Personnel at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. Training has been conducted for the new research team in Uzbekistan to conduct the WVS-7 survey round in Fall 2019. It also provides an evidence base for identifying gaps in both the implementation and monitoring of SDG16, and for altering course to accelerate implementation where needed.
