Closed for Coronavirus Due to the coronavirus the Pentland Community Centre will be closed from tonight Thursday 19th March for the foreseeable future. We are sorry for the inconvenience but we will let you know when we are able to reopen as soon as we can. Play Area Refurbishment Contractors MW Groundworks are programmed to be on site w/c 9th November to carry out refurbishment of the play area with a duration of 6 weeks. The play area will be closed and secure for this period. For the Attention of Member Groups, Private Lets and all users of the Pentland Community Centre Here is a synopsis of the information received by the management committee from the Council today, 9th September, 2020. "Community centres must remain closed unless for the purpose of hosting essential voluntary or urgent public support services, such as food banks, homeless services and blood donation sessions. Any reopening of Community Centres that requires additional Council expenditure or resources will not be approved. Examples of additional costs may include but not limited to adaptation such as screens and partitions, extra cleaning and Facilities Management. The Management Committee will be required to oversee the activities in the Community Centre as no Council officer will be on site. The Management Committee is therefore responsible for the safe day to day operation of the community centre and compliance with the latest national guidance, including Covid-19 requirements risks are managed effectively." Obviously the safety of all Centre users is paramount and the costs involved for safe usage, hiring a Facilities Management, extra cleaners and the necessary equipment etc, is also a factor that has to be considered. Therefore the Pentland Community will not be reopened at this time. Any changes to the present situation will be posted by the management committee when received from Edinburgh Council.
