Trials for the 2021 Camrose Trophy, the competition between the teams of the 'home nations', will be held 11th - 13th December. Both the Camrose itself and the trials for it will be played online, via RealBridge. The trial will be all-play-all over the three days with the top six pairs offered a place in a Camrose team.Entries for this pairs trial cost £90 per player, are open to all and will be accepted from Monday 16th November until the closing date of Wednesday 9th December. The bridge talk starts at about 11.40am, or 1 hour 36 minutes on playback. ‘Bridge: A MindSport for All’ (BAMSA) have published their first report on bridge identities in the academic journal: International Review for the Sociology of Sport.BAMSA is the new project name for the work by the team at ‘Keep Bridge Alive’. It is a sociological research project that explores interactions within the mind-sport, well-being, transferable life skills, mental health and social connections.With the research appearing in a sport journal, BAMSA hope this will help to raise the profile of bridge as a mind-sport. In September we took the decision to cancel our Year End Congresses in London and Blackpool, and instead run a combined event online. We are pleased to confirm that we now have a "venue" for the online year end congress, it will be held on RealBridge.The congress will be held between Christmas and New Year over four days, 27th to 30th December.There will be the usual events, Mixed or Open Pairs, Jack High Pairs, Swiss Pairs and Teams. The Swiss Pairs and Swiss Teams are both stratified events.The Jack High Swiss Pairs will be followed by a Zoom seminar the next morning to go through the hands. The EBU Online Knockout Teams competition has been won by Michael Prior, Michael Hampton, Kay Preddy Norman Selway.They beat the Leslie team of Mike Bell, Tim Leslie, Ben Norton, Michael Byrne Kieran Dyke on 4th November by 64-38 in the final.Congratulations to all involved and well done to Team Prior.The 2021 competition will start in the new year with entries opening soon.Results; Previous winners The nominations for the EBU Board and Standing Committees have now closed.The EBU AGM will take place on 25th November.
