British Numismatic Society Promoting the study of coins, medals, tokens and banknotes The British Numismatic Society exists to promote the study and understanding of British Numismatics.The Society was foundedin 1903 with only three members but today has over 500, with interests which embraceall forms of coinage, tokens, banknotes and medals relating to the British Isles and former parts of the British Empire. Members of the society include academics, students, collectors and enthusiasts. The society prides itself on being open and welcoming to all.The society promotes the understanding of numismatics through holding regular lectures and meetingsas well as producing a number ofpublications.These include the British Numismatic Journal, the major journal for British Numismatics.The society is active in awarding prizesand medalswhich recognise achievement in British Numismatics, as well as making available a number of fundsto support the work of others in this area.This website provides an outline of the activities of the society.
