Based out of Nampa, Idaho, we design and build beautiful and practical furniture that will stand the test of time. We believe in the value of handcrafted and clean building methods that will delight and compliment your space for years to come.

Owner James Barrett, came from a construction and custom high end home building background, but has refined and honed his skills through education and years of disciplined making across various media and material, but woodworking has been his passion all along.

As a maker, James builds with a great pride in going against the grain of mass produced pieces of throwaway furniture. He feels a great sense of ownership in each piece that leaves his shop because of the responsible use of such beautiful materials. Learn more about us.

James walked us through the options and recommendations for our use (heavy cooking with children). The island is the centerpiece of our kitchen and we could not be happier with the outcome. There is a personal touch here that is uncommon in the home remodels, like letting my young boys help with the install and explaining the process to us the whole way. After contacting a few different places and being turned down, James was willing to take on our wild idea with enthusiasm. Both Jake and James came over and scoped our idea of converting our separate island and dining room table into one gigantic functional island/dining room table-in-one. I was very specific in the wood design in matching my previous (much smaller kitchen table).The base came fairly quickly, but it did take several months for the top to be completed (pandemic shortage in wood). Regardless, the wait was worth it. My husband is a detail-oriented engineer, and he was blown away at the craftmanship. The pictures do not do it justice.Our large family has many years of memories of meals and family game nights at this table to come. We are beyond excited. Google James Sherman The folks at Boise Custom Furniture/Mahogany House Woodworks (James, Mike & Jake) took our idea for two matching cabinets, to be placed in recessed areas on each side of our fireplace, and turned the idea into two beautiful custom pieces. Each piece has two soft-close doors with two understated silver pulls that conceal a spring action drawer that sits over each of the two storage areas. What pulls it all together beautifully is the reddish-colored finish that brings out and accents the grain of the wood. We couldn’t be happier with our new custom cabinets. Nothing like our old softwood board! Best of all, we received personalized service, from a personal phone call when the board was finished and ready to ship, to a personal email for shipping info.
