PeaceWomen is the Women, Peace and Security Programme of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), the oldest women's peace organization in the world. We work for feminist peace by strengthening women’s meaningful participation, transforming gendered power, and bridging local gender conflict analysis with global efforts to implement a holistic WPS Agenda.

Our website features information about women peace leaders, our monitoring of the United Nations Security Council and other UN fora, and contains almost 30,000 resources on issues of gender, peace and security in our Resource Centre.

The global coalition Feminist Action for Afghanistan condemns a growing pattern of exclusion of Afghan women from key mechanisms to address Afghanistan’s humanitarian crisis and is calling for governments and UN agencies to ensure that Afghan women’s representatives are involved at all stages of negotiations.

2021 Open Letter to the UN Security Council

Alongside 370+ other organizations,WILPF is proud to sign on to the annual NGO Working Group on WPS open letter, which calls on the UN, the Security Council, and member states to take urgent action to protect women human rights defenders and civil society leaders.

Afghanistan: Joint call for an immediate end to attacks against HRDs

WILPF has joined a call for an end tothreats, harassment, intimidation and attacks against HRDs, activists, journalists and media workers in Afghanistan. This joint statement calls for an effective protection mechanism for HRDs and accountability.

Policy Briefs: Women, Peace and Security and the Generation Equality Forum

WILPF is happy to releasesix briefs connecting the Generation EqualityAction Coalitions with women, peace, and security concerns. These are meant to inform and guide the work of the Action Coalitions and the Compact for Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Actionfrom a feminist peace perspective, built from the expertise of WILPF's global network.

Landmark Report: UNSCR 1325 at 20 Years

WILPF is proud to announce the release of our report on 20 years of implementation of UNSCR 1325. The reportis based on months of consultations with feminist peace activists, anddocuments their assessment of the extent to which WPS priorities have been translated into concrete action. WILPF International Secretariat Statement on Systemic Racism and Police Brutality

WILPF International Secretariat has released a statement about systemic racism and police brutality, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.Nonviolent resistance requires standing against oppression in all of its forms, as well as systems that perpetrate structural violence. Without justice, there can be no peace or freedom.
