On October 28, 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act was signed into law. This Act provided the framework and resources to help combat human trafficking and ensure services for victims.Join the Office for Victims of Crime in commemorating the 20th anniversary of this landmark legislation. On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Attorney General Barr announced more than $295 million to improve public safety, serve victims of crime and support youth programs in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Approximately $118 million of that funding will be administered by the Office for Victims of Crime. Each year, the Office for Victims of Crime recognizes exceptional individuals and organizations for their outstanding service in supporting victims.These award recipients were selected for their vision, action, and leadership in seeking justice, ensuring victims’ rights, and inspiring hope.Our site has resources to help you, including toll free hotlines and information about services in your state/territory.  To help combat fraud against older Americans and provide services to victims, OVC supports the National Elder Fraud Hotline. Call 833–FRAUD–11 (833–372–8311) to receive help from a hotline case manager.  OVC TTAC supports the field through customized technical assistance, online trainings, the National Victim Assistance Academy, and more.The Justice Grants System (JustGrants) and the Department of the Treasury’s Automated Standard Application for Payments (ASAP) are now available for all award management and payment activities. Award recipients with the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) can login to JustGrants or visit the informational website for further resources and support. Additionally, ASAP is now available for enrolled Department of Justice award recipients to request funds. For more information on how to request funds in ASAP, please reference the user guide.  OVC formula funding supports victim compensation and assistance programs in every U.S. state and territory. OVC discretionary grants support training, technical assistance, and other capacity-building programs to support victims of crime in communities across the Nation. OVC develops publications and multimedia products on emerging victim issues, promising practices, policy development, and technical assistance and skill-building tools.
