Seeds and SeminarsHello Everyone, Hope you are enduring our winter and looking forward to spring. All of us here at Alpha Nursery are!!

I am wanting to give you some info on what is going on behind the scenes pertaining to Seeds and Seminars.

We are excited to be launching a new Seminar Series called "Mastering Mountain Gardening". This series of seminars is geared toward novice or beginning gardeners wanting to grow vegetables and herbs in our unpredictable growing conditions here in Valley County. Semi-experience and experienced gardeners are welcomealso. There will be a couple of workshops included in this series. One of the workshops will be 'Seed Starting' scheduled for around mid-February. Watch for details coming out in the next couple of weeks.

Seeds and starter plants were in short supply last year. Due to the pandemic about 36% of our population began vegetable gardens last year. This put a strain on the seed and starter plant suppliers. Seed and Plant suppliers plan for crop production up to 2 years in advance. This includes growing the seeds that homeowners and wholesale nurseries use for producing starter plants. So, the seeds for last year were grown in 2018. The seeds that are available for this year were grown in 2019 before the pandemic hit. With the increase of 36% of the population now growing vegetable gardens, you can see why there is a shortage of seeds and plants.

I spoke with my seed representative on Friday and they are already experiencing shortages of seed. There is just not enough available for the demand. You need to put on the top of your list to get your seeds ordered now. Don't wait until March or April. I have placed my order for the Renee's Garden Seeds for this coming spring. I have ordered heavy so that I will have seeds available hoping that I have ordered enough.

Whether you order from us or through another seed company, get your order in now! If you would like to order seeds through us, I have attached an Excel order form along with a New Introduction Seed List and a Seed Description List. You can place your order on the Excel Order Form and email it back. Give us a few days to confirm availability and we can then place your order on our website where you can pay contactless. We can then mail you your order or you can pick it up at the nursery.

Let me know if you have any questions by replying to this email. Share this with your friends and family. Time is of the essence!

Getting excited for Spring!!

Alpha Nursery Garden Center features Renee's Garden Seeds as our flower and garden seed supplier.

One of their commitments to those that like to garden is to give credit to our store for a certain amount of seeds not sold during the season. We then donate those seed packets to an organization that can make good use of the seeds.

In January, 2016, 109 packets of vegetables was donated through this program to the Cascade Food Pantry. These seeds will be given to the folks that have reserved a raised garden bed in the Pride of the Pantry Plots community garden. Let's give Renee's Garden Seeds a hand!!! What a great program!!
