They celebrated being the same like cakes on the inside but different in our appearance on the outside. Sixteen ISM Art Students Recognized at International Scholastic Art Writing Competition. I am happy to report that sixteen ISM art students have won top honors for their artworks. After many months of hard work, of editing and revising, and of crossing fingers, the time to find out who was awarded happened this past Saturday. On February 2, ISM students’ artworks won recognition amongst other international students and schools world-wide and were selected to be included in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, an American-based juried exhibition of high school artwork. PRE K4 Ms Jane’s class and Fifth Grade Ms Tamara’s class celebrate BOOKS!During our Reading Focus Week in January which included a Book Fair, Ms Tamara’s fifth graders came to share the books purchased for their younger brothers, sisters and little cousins with PK4! The pop-up books proved to be a firm favourite. The, ‘building a dinosaur’, book really captured the interest of boys in the group. More importantly books and reading was celebrated in a collaborative way which had all the children involved and READING! Read More KG FIRE FIGHTERS In February, kindergarteners learned about fire safety. We learned what to do in case of a fire, fire prevention, and how firefighters help the community through reading books, group discussions, playing games, and using pretend play to act out what we learned.After much evaluation, ISM has decided to close the school as part of the worldwide preventive efforts in response to COVID-19. Although there are still no confirmed cases in Myanmar we felt with other organizations in Myanmar taking action it was prudent in the interest of our school community to begin conducting school through our distance learning program. By doing so, we can better ensure our school community is able to practice social distancing as recommended by the CDC as a preventive measure to any possible spread of COVID-19.We will use the following schedule before beginning our full distance learning plan on Monday, March 23rd;Wednesday, March 18 Students attend school from 8:00 11:00 to collect materials and meet with teachers to discuss online learning.Thursday, March 19 Full planning day for teachers to prepare distance learning lessons and plans.Friday, March 20 Check-in day for students and teachers through learning platform ie. google classroomMonday, March 23 First full day of the distance learning program.We will evaluate the situation at the end of our first full week of online learning to determine the length of our closure and a reopening date.The Distance Learning plan has roles and responsibilities for Teachers, Parents, Students, and Teaching assistants.
