In the 1950s 1 in 25,000 children were diagnosed with Autism.in 1975 1 in 15,000;in 2000 1 in 2500; in 2012, 1 in 33 children between 5 and 9 were diagnosed in Australia (ABS figures)Based on trends since 1980, it is estimated that by 2020, this figure will reach 1 in 20 and unless prevented, will reach 1 in 5 by 2030. The incidence of ADHD has already reached 1 in 10 and still rising.In 2013 the World Health Organisation declared AUTISM their top health priorityWith each affected child, parents, siblings and close family will also be adversely affected; so profoundly and in ways that only those who live through it can understand.The Foundation s objectives: The foundation was formed by a group of health professionals and scientists dedicated to finding the root causes of Autism, and the best prevention and treatment options. We aim to:Conduct research to determine the most cost effective treatment combinations. Conduct research on the impact of Environmental toxins, Dietary and Nutritional factors. Promote effective treatment options for Autism, ADHD and other childhood disorders. Provide advocacy, to change government policy and improve funding for treatment and research.Build a world class treatment and research center for Autism and ADHD. Provide affordable or pro-bono treatment for those in need of services for Autism or ADHDWe need funds to carry out research the Government is not doing. Please make a contributionIf so, your child is invited to participate in a research study. Together with the Behavioural Neurotherapy Clinic, we are conducting an ongoing study investigating the "effect of diet alteration and nutrient supplementation" on the behaviours of children with ADHD and Autism. Your child will be assessed at baseline and every six months using a number of tests, including cognitive functioning (e.g., attention and thinking), brain electrical activity, sleep, behaviour faecal microbiology and gut symptoms and this will help us understand the relationship between diet and nutrition in children with ADHD. This study has been approved by Bellberry Human Research Ethics Committee.
