There’s nothing you can ever say or do, That’s going to make you brave And, now you’re here, Fending off the darkest days, And we can stare at the sea pining, But I just want to start again So, let’s fire them angels Were they here anyway? As we shatter and we scatter, I don’t know how. No, I don’t know how, To look into you: a broken mirror It was amazing, And it’s really gone I sing it all back into song, And I breathe your name into the howling of my darkI didn’t want to be your shadowThose people that care for you think you’re more than shadowI cannot comprehend what goes on inside your mindEverything I have is boxed up now; it’s misplaced and left outBeaming from the yardHidden on the groundVoices from the fireplaceTear it down, you will tear it downNo one gets to say their final goodbyesEverything you know will say goodbye, goodbyeIt’s not something that I want, and I can’t hear you nowI can’t stop thinking when those days turn coldI didn’t want to be your shadowI was always meant to be your shadow There’s nothing more lonely than shadowSociety says, “It’s better to give,”But they don’t got generators giving them energy to liveI said melt me downMelt me downMelt me downMelt me downMy tattered shell is all covered in wiresThey start to give, glitch – growing ever-tiredAlthough these hands were cast in steel,It gives no room to react or feelSo, melt me downMelt me downMelt me downMelt me downI’ve got a hot-wired leaky soul,A stomach exposed of bolts and coilsMy back’s worn down to its outer tinThere’s no way to reboot me againSo, please melt me downMelt me downMelt me downMelt me downSomehow the light – it shot from my mind into night skyOut of the sky, it was calling me home – children’s last laugherInto your eyes and behind all those lies, Your secrets were murderTaking a step, closer again – a chance encounterMeasuring depth and the smoke on her breathHer blonde head restsKissing the lightsKissing my mindKissing the lights Kissing my mindKissing the lightsSomehow the light – it shot from my mind into night skyOut of the sky, it was calling me home – children’s last laugherInto your eyes and behind all those lies, Your secrets were murderTaking a step, closer again – a chance encounterKissing the lightsKissing my mindKissing the lights Kissing my mindKissing the lightsMeasuring depth and the smoke on her breathHer blonde head restsShe points to moon, she points to moonSunrise too soon, sunrise too soonShe points to moon, she points to moonSunrise too soon, sunrise too soonShe points to moon, she points to moonSunrise too soon, sunrise too soonUntil we meet again…And sooner or later he outgrew colors and fantasies He lost his rhymes of orange, pink and milky-cream His lazy sleepy days, his endless summer dreams The very thought of his stuffed fluffies And, all those years have treated the reformed oh-so well They’re heavily medicated sans their dizzy spells And, as your mind grows soft and weary, life is only to grow old All your dreams were lies, and so were your hopes And sooner or later he outgrew colors and fantasies He lost his rhymes of orange, pink and milky-cream His lazy sleepy days, his endless summer dreams The very thought of his stuffed fluffies And sooner or later he outgrew And sooner or later pretend just isn’t for you This time is fleeting, and they all knew And sooner or later, you will tooThey try to cling to your bones and fingertipsYou can shake them with the sounds of something newOh drips, we’re so tired of this through and throughBack in the day, we would have met at the creek,Would’ve played tag amongst the treesYour muddy boots and my tattered shoesVine rope hops, smiles and flower dewAnd as this grows, I think of us as more as pieces To anyone in the world it would be clear if they could meet us,That we’re a unique fit all the timeBut, I don’t care what they think as long as you’re mine about The Fool, The Hermit and The Hanged is the first full-length album by Artless Bravado. This is a follow up to two EPs and demos (even live material) along the way. This album is the culmination of material worked on and refined over the years. Some of the songs were written over a decade ago – they were rough: in both the temporal sense and the quality of songs. Some material was originally performed years ago with additional musicians, and some/most of this is brand new. We are delighted to have a couple of guests making this album even more enjoyable as we worked on it. Added vocals (Tori Cadle) and guitars (Michael Dooley), we feel, add new dynamics to our sound. And, this is all captured and mixed by Billy Armijo. This is a quick and rock-oriented album highlighting the themes of loss and growth (interspersed with fairytale magic). From the past, the motivation to attain a brighter future exists. There are sad pensive moments; there are the sweeter moments as well. What it all comes down to is: take a trip, take a drive, take a walk, etc… At least move your body around. Movement is necessary for these sounds. And, we hope you enjoy them.Paul DeMarte – Guitars, Vocals, Keyboards and Glockenspiel Michael Genova – Bass, VocalsIan Scholfield – DrumsSpecial Featured Guests:Tori Cadle – Vocals on “How Long Was Forever” and “Old Salt Crystal Ball”Michael Dooley – Lead Guitar + An Additional Rhythm Guitar on Life s Echoes Recorded and mixed by Billy Armijo, 2012/2013All music written and performed by Artless Bravado.Album cover photograph by: Paul DeMarteEditing and Lettering by: Michael Genova Email: artlessbravado@gmail.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/artlessbravado Twitter: twitter.com#!/Artless_Bravado/ The Australian indie-pop duo s latest album is centered on strong friendships and common struggles.
