Our maternal-fetal medicine specialist can guide your family through a complicated pregnancy, protect the health of your unborn child and offer peace of mind. We are a national leader in treating expectant mothers and their babies at this very important time in their lives.A maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialist, also known as a perinatologist, is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology with advanced training in the management of high-risk pregnancies due to medical risks to the mother or fetus. An MFM specialist cares for pregnant women with chronic conditions, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, and monitors women who develop complications, such as early labor, during pregnancy. An MFM specialist may also be involved in the care of women expecting twins, triplets or more. Our MFM specialists can act as consultants or primary care providers, delivering services such as advanced ultrasound and genetic consultation, and may be involved in planning and care from the time a woman is considering pregnancy through the growth and development of her family.An advanced practitioner, including perinatal nurse practitioners, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives, may also assist in the management of a high-risk patient.
