NASA Research Announcements (NRAs) for Human Exploration Research Opportunities (HERO) and for Research Opportunities in Space Biology (ROSBio) can be found on the NSPIRES website. NASA's Human Research Program (HRP) conducts research and develops technologies that allow humans to travel safely and productively in space. The Program uses evidence from data collected on astronauts, as well as other supporting studies. These data are stored in the research data repository, Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA). NASA’s Space Biology Program uses cell and molecular biology technologies to answer basic questions about how spaceflight affects biological processes to help us understand the fundamental ways in which biological systems use gravity to regulate and sustain their growth, metabolism, reproduction and development, as well as how they repair damage and protect themselves from infection and disease. The data and results that are created by this research are stored and available in the research data repository, Life Sciences Data Archive (LSDA). This collection contains information and data from the Mercury Project (1961) to current flight, flight analog and ground research. The Human Health and Performance Directorate (HH&P) is the primary organization focused on enhancing crew health and performance and mitigating the risks associated with human spaceflight. With three offices, three divisions and over 900 employees, all HH&P functions are ultimately aimed at achieving our mission: optimizing human health and performance throughout all phases of spaceflight. This collection contains data from the astronaut occupational surveillance program, designed to screen and monitor astronauts for occupational related disesase.
