Counseling Services will be closed December 24-January 3. Our After-Hours Support and Crisis Line will be available at 541-346-3227.Counseling Services COVID-19 (Coronavirus) UpdatesUpdated December 10, 2020We are committed to ensuring that students are cared for during this time of uncertainty. University Counseling Services (UCS) has successfully transitioned most of our services to an online/teletherapy format. For the health of all Ducks, counseling services are by appointment only. No drop-in hours are being offered at this time; however, we do offer same-day appointment scheduling. How to schedule an appointment: If you are interested in speaking with one of our therapists, whether for one-time support or to learn more about our service options, call us to schedule a same-day clinical consult at 541-346-3227.As each state has its own mental health licensing regulations, we are able to provide therapy services to students physically located in Oregon in addition to Arizona, California, Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.ALL students are able to access in-the-moment support regardless of location. Call UCS at 541-346-3227. If we're open, our front desk will connect you with a mental health professional; if we're closed press "1" to be connected to our After-hours Support and Crisis Line. Also, check out our Let’s (Tele)Talk drop-in service that provides easy access to free, confidential, one-on-one consultations with a UCS staff member. For students not physically located in the states mentioned above, we would be happy to help you find local community resources and referrals with the assistance of our case managers.Additionally, Counseling Services has rooms available for students to reserve if they need a private room or secure internet for a teletherapy appointment with an on-campus or off-campus therapist (e.g., in Eugene-Springfield or in their home community). This service is available only when UCS is open. Call 541-346-3227 to reserve a room.We also have a variety of online mental health resources on our website, including our Self-Care Kit, Be Well Blog, Wellbeing Assessments, and Duck Tails Podcast. Our outreach staff is able to coordinate educational workshops for your classes or student groups. Many of us are experiencing a range of emotions with the recent and ongoing racial injustices and violence toward Black people, and other people of color. We know this is taking a psychological toll on us as individuals and as a community. Please reach out if you need support. We stand with you.The Counseling Services staff wants to explicitly and unequivocally express our solidarity and support of our Black students, colleagues, and community members on campus, in Eugene/Springfield, and across the globe. Black lives matter. It is important to say this and name this as a recognition of the historical and systemic oppression and loss of life experienced by our Black community. The low number of Black community members within the state of Oregon reflects the severe, negative, and long-term impacts of violent and racist practices. There is no denying history. There is no forgetting of lives lost. We are here to be part of the change. We are here as a community. We are here as Ducks. If one of us is hurting, all of us are hurting. Any time Counseling Services is closed a mental health professional is available to provide support and connect you with resources. Your college experience is one of growth and learning. We all face a variety of challenges and obstacles in college and in life. You may come across moments that are not easy to talk about—struggling academically, navigating personal relationships, what it's like to live with mental health concerns. It can seem like you are the only one dealing with these issues, but you are not alone. We have a team that cares deeply about your development and success. We are here to support you through the challenges and celebrate your successes. We understand that care and support comes in many different forms and environments. Getting support is different for everyone. It could look like talking one-on-one with someone or attending a workshop. We are here to help you identify strategies that work best for you so that you can be successful during your time at the UO. Let’s Talk is a drop-in service that provides easy access to free, informal confidential one-on-one consultation with a University Counseling Services counselor. What makes Let’s (Tele)Talk different from counseling services at UCS? No appointment necessary (first-come, first served) No paperwork to be completed Easy access support and consultation Let’s (Tele)Talk is especially helpful for students who: Have a specific concern and would like to consult with someone about it Would like on-the-spot consultation rather than ongoing counseling Would like to consult with a UCS staff member about what actual therapy looks like Would like to meet with one of our UCS identity-based specialists Have a concern about a friend or family member and would like some ideas about what to do How does Let’s (Tele)Talk work? While typically offered in various campus locations, Let’s (Tele)Talk will now be offered via Zoom. Click on the relevant link below to access a Zoom meeting with a Let’s (Tele)Talk counselor. There may be a wait in the Zoom waiting room if the counselor is meeting with another student. Please wait and we will be with you as soon as we can.
