My Research Stay: Report by Randika Jayasinghe 2019 was my third time in Germany, this time for a little longer – almost three months for my research stay at the Institute for Applied Material Flow Management (IfaS). Every year, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) hosts the prestigious Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development to promote the international exchange of innovative green ideas from various fields of research. The award, under the patronage of Minister Anja Karliczek, honours young researchers each year. The winners come from numerous countries and scientific disciplines and are recognised for their outstanding achievements in making our societies more sustainable. Selected by a jury of German experts, the award winners are granted unique access to the country’s research elite. This year's submission period is over. The assessment and selection process will last until mid-August 2020. Please understand that we cannot provide any information about the selection process until the jury makes its final decision. All applicants will be informed of the results in due course. After that the Green Talents awardees 2020 will be published on our website.If you are interested in the Green Talent Competition 2021 please register for our competition alert and you will be informed as soon as the next submission period starts.URGENT INFORMATIONDue to the unfolding of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Green Talents Science Forum 2020 will take place in a safe setup as a Virtual Science Forum. The Green Talents 2020 will not be able to travel to Germany regarding the international travel restrictions. We are currently planning for a Virtual Science Forum online that will give the 25 winners the experience of getting to know their fellow Green Talents winners as well as the different elements of the Science Forum in a virtual setting. The research stays in 2021 will (presumably) not be affected by this. We will keep you updated with any news related to the competition and the Virtual Science Forum here on our website.
