Working with a $5,000 grant awarded by Century Link, Cerniglia purchased new technology to add practical application to his students’ coursework.  Comments (-1) Sand Creek Stings for Homecoming Friday the thirteenth and a harvest full moon proved to be good luck for the Sand Creek Scorpions for their homecoming football game vs. Cheyenne Mountain on Sept. 13. Scorpions stung their opponents in a 21-6 victory. At the heart of how they treat each other and their work is the D49 cultural compass, which emphasizes care and respect. The board of education recognized four individuals during Fantastic 49 festivities before the regular board meeting September 12 for their commitment to serving others. The day marked a fresh start for both students and Principal Beth Dowdy, who will serve as the school’s new leader for the 2019-20 school year. Excellent grades and exemplary behavior have consistently been part of their history, and now it’s about closing the chapter in middle school with the same track record.
