Dear theatre lovers and theatre friends,Vancouverplays continues to suspend daily updates since all our theatres are dark for the immediate future. We now update the site weekly.The past couple of weeks have seen the administration of two of our most important companies thrown into chaos. First, thePuSh Festivalannounced that Associate Artistic Director Joyce Rosario was being let go. Then, on July 3, Artistic Director Franco Boni was terminated. Boni had been with PuSh only a short time. Clearly, there was serious trouble in that organization. Ditto withCarousel Theatre for Young People. After a series of complaints from actors, students and staff, long-time Artistic and Managing Director Carole Higgins is no longer with the organization. Neither PuSh nor Carousel has announced replacements. And with the tenuous state of live theatre in the time of COVID, you have to wonder who would want those jobs.Boca del Lupo’stwo theatre projectscontinue throughAug. 22in the Fishbowl, Granville Island.
