SRBC Operations During COVID-19 SRBC to Hold Public Hearing on Water Project Applications -- The Susquehanna River Basin Commission will receive public comment at a hearing on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. The subjects covered by the hearing include applications for several water withdrawal and consumptive use projects including one Commission-initiated project approval modification. This hearing will be held telephonically, toll free conference call number 1-877-668-4493, access code 177 232 3507 followed by the # sign. News Release The Guardian Newsletter (Summer 2021) -- Summer 2021 topics include actions taken at business meetings, SRBC in the classroom and news of previous and future events. Newsletter SRBC Adopts an Updated Comprehensive Plan for the Susquehanna River Basin at its Business Meeting - The Commission held its quarterly business meeting virtually from Harrisburg, Pa. on June 17, 2021. Particularly noteworthy was the adoption of a newly revised Comprehensive Plan for the Water Resources of the Susquehanna Basin for 2021 through 2041. In a related action, the Commission adopted an environmental justice resolution and acted on 13 water projects. News Release Updated Comprehensive Plan and Water Resources Program - SRBC recently adopted an updated Comprehensive Plan that outlines the vision, needs, and strategy for effectively managing the water resources of the basin over the next 20 years. The Plan will be implemented through an updated Water Resources Program that presents the priority water resources needs of the basin over the next three fiscal years and the key projects proposed to satisfy those needs. Comprehensive Plan Water Resources Program Commission Scientists Visit Public Schools - SRBC scientist Ellyn Campbell shared information about aquatic organisms with seventy fourth-grade students at Silver Spring Elementary School in Cumberland County, Pa. News Release Susquehanna River Basin Commission Annual Report 2020-the 2020 annual report highlights the Commission’s work to enhance public welfare through comprehensive planning, water supply allocation, and management of the water resources of the Susquehanna River Basin. This report highlights initiatives in which our role as river steward has evolved over the years, reflecting our ability to adapt to changing needs. 2020 Annual Report SRBC Releases a Proposed Rulemaking and Related Groundwater Review Policies for Public Comment - The Susquehanna River Basin Commission has released a proposed rulemaking and three related groundwater review policies for public comment. The rulemaking and policies will be open for written public comment until May 17, 2021, and oral testimony may be provided at a public hearing on May 6, 2021. Proposed Rulemaking Webinar Video SRBC Announces Water Level Monitoring Grants - The Susquehanna River Basin Commission is offering a new grant program to support the collection and reporting of water level data in groundwater production wells. The goal is to promote practices that improve the sustainability of the basin’s water resources. The Commission has dedicated $120,000 to fund the program for its first year. Grant recipients may receive up to $1,500 per source, with a facility cap of $7,500 per year. News Release Story Map SRBC Adopts General Permit GP-01 – Groundwater Remediation Projects At its December 11th Commission Meeting, SRBC adopted its first General Permit that would approve the withdrawl of groundwater for groundwater remediation projects and the consumptive use of the same water.
