Fiscal Year 2021 Proposed Budget Presentation Board of Commissioners Budget Presentation - May 28, 2020 Download the Presentation Kenwood Road Culvert Replacement – Upcoming Road Closure Fayette County, Georgia – May 21st, 2020 Kenwood Road is scheduled to close beginning Thursday May 28th, 2020 until August 2020 for a 2017 SPLOST stormwater project. Kenwood Road will be CLOSED to all thru-traffic between Longview Road and New Hope Road until August 2020. This project consists of the demolition and removal of two failing 96-inch corrugated metal pipes and the construction of two reinforced concrete box culverts, 8ft X 8ft and 8ft X 6ft in size. Fayette County will re-open to the public on May 18Fayette County, Georgia, May 12, 2020 – Fayette County offices will re-open, Monday, May 18, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. Staff will continue to report to work and work under the telework plan. Our vulnerable and medically fragile employees are required to continue to telework to keep exposure to a minimum. In an effort to remain consistent with state and federal guidance and mitigate transmission of COVID-19 virus, Fayette County has temporarily updated its procedures as follows: Staff will be on-site to take temperatures of persons entering County buildings. If deemed to have an elevated temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, visitors will be encouraged to seek medical attention and contact the county’s website for information. Those with elevated temperatures as described will not be allowed to enter the building. Each county department will implement social distancing measures and asks everyone to adhere to the procedures accordantly. The goal of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners is for all citizens to remain healthy and safe. We take these precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 from person-to-person, and we encourage all to continue to practice proper hand washing protocols, social distancing, and cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. Fayette County Justice Center Courts Offices Fayette County, Georgia, May 18, 2020 – Please note the May 18 reopen notice does not apply to the Courts and each court should be contacted to determine their protocol. The statewide Judicial Emergency period remains in place until June 12. Dogwood Trail Culvert Replacement - Update Fayette County, Georgia, April 2, 2020 – Dogwood Trail is currently CLOSED to ALL THROUGH TRAFFIC between Farr Road and Tyrone Road for the demolition of the two failing 120-inch corrugated metal pipes and the construction of Fayette County's largest culvert, a 48-ft by 14-ft concrete bottomless arch culvert. The lengthy delay caused by the unforeseen need and construction of a modular bridge for a temporary 6-inch gas main is finally complete. The County’s contractor, Helix Group, has remobilized onsite and is continuing with construction at an accelerated rate. The anticipated completion date for this project is August 2020. TYRONE SECTION OF DOGWOOD TRAIL – PARTIAL ROAD OPEN Fayette County, Georgia – November 21, 2019 – The Town of Tyrone’s section of Dogwood Trail is now OPEN to all traffic. This section of Dogwood Trail between SR 74 and Farr Road has been closed to thru-traffic since July 2019 for a 2017 SPLOST Stormwater Project. Fayette County’s section of Dogwood Trail between Farr Road and Tyrone Road will remain CLOSED until Spring 2020. The County’s section of Dogwood Trail has been closed to thru-traffic since August 2019 for a 2017 SPLOST Stormwater Project at Flat Creek. This project consists of the demolition and removal of two failing 120-inch corrugated metal pipes and the construction of a 48-ft by 14-ft concrete bottomless arch culvert. The location of a 6-inch gas main along Dogwood Trail remains in conflict with the County’s project. Atlanta Gas-Light-Southern Co. has been working on a design for a temporary gas line since September 11, 2019. Although the County’s contractor has been able to accomplish some work, the gas line conflict has caused more than a two month delay to date.
