Description:

The Dickinson County Library Board has approved metrics that will determine when the Main and Solomonson branches may move to Phase 5 of the library s Phased Reopening Plan. This move is contingent upon weekly COVID-19 case numbers in Dickinson County; average new case growth must remain at or below .7% or active cases must remain at or below 18% of the total for the branches to move to and remain in Phase 5. If not, the branches will remain in or revert to Phase 4. When the Library Board met in September, the numbers in Dickinson County were trending downward and we hoped we could move to Phase 5, said Library Director Megan Buck. Unfortunately, numbers are climbing again. The good news is that we can provide almost all normal services by appointment, over the phone, or through curbside pickup. On top of finding innovative ways to help our patrons, the safety of our community and staff remain our highest priority. We miss everyone and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as it is safe to do so! Please follow the library on Facebook at www.facebook.com/dickinsoncountylibrary for updates on the current phase each week, and please visit our website at www.dcl-lib.org to view the complete Phased Reopening Plan.Phase 5 will allow patrons to enter the library without an appointment. However, there will be guidelines in place to ensure the health and safety of patrons and staff. These include mandatory masks or face coverings for anyone age 2 and older, limited browsing time, and limited computer time. More detailed information will be released as we get closer to Phase 5.The library s North Dickinson Branch will remain in Phase 4 at this time, due to restrictions from the North Dickinson County School.Regardless of which phase the buildings are in, hours will remain the same for the rest of the year. They are:Main Solomonson Branches: Monday-Friday, 10 AM-6 PM; Saturday, 10 AM-1 PMNorth Dickinson Branch: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 10 AM-3:30 PMExpanded Hours for Curbside Pickups, Limited Appointments, and the Book Drop at the Main Branch! The Main Branch has been rolling out several changes over the past several weeks to better serve our patrons while the library building continues to be closed to normal usage. We are now offering curbside pickups and limited appointments inside the building Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, including the hours of 1 PM to 3 PM, which were previously not available. We have also added Saturday hours, from 10 AM to 1 PM, for curbside pickups and limited appointments inside the building.Patrons have two options to initiate a curbside pickup:1.Log in to your library account online and place holds for items, such as books or DVDS, that you want. When the items become available, we will call you to set up a pickup time.2.Call us at 906-774-1218 and give us the titles you re looking for. If the items are available in-house, we will locate them and set up a pickup time for you. If they are not immediately available, we will call you when they are here to set up a pickup time.Limited appointments inside the building are for the following activities: using a computer, registering for or renewing a library card, paying a bill for a lost or damaged item, using the copy machine, using the microfilm machine, or viewing reference materials that cannot leave the building. Patrons must wear a face covering at all times while inside the building. We re also happy to announce that the book drop at the Main Branch will now be open overnight during the week. We will open the book drop about 10 AM on Monday and lock it at 1 PM on Saturday. It will remain closed for the remainder of the weekend. And finally, the Main Branch is now offering appointments to read local and regional newspapers. Please note, this is an at-your-own-risk service, as library staff are unable to sanitize newspapers or quarantine them between users. Gloves are available for those who wish to use them. As with all other appointments inside the building, face coverings are required. Please keep checking our website atwww.dcl-lib.organd our Facebook page for more updates as they happen. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue to move forward with our reopening plan! The Solomonson Branch continues to offer curbside services and limited appointments inside the building Monday through Friday from 10 AM-1 PM 3 PM-6 PM.
