This is the place to ask questions. If your login doesn't work, you might try requesting access with your normal email. I am a little concerned, however, that there might be a fundamental flaw in this file, and we may have to abandon this site and start a new one. The links are doing strange things behind my back:-)

Ms Stronach saidat 5:18 pm on Mar 5, 2011
Olay, Dylan. I thought it was very unlike you. Thanks for getting ahold of me. In my mailbox first thing Monday morning?

Whoa.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa.
How do we check our marks?
I mean, I'm on the page but all I see is a load of gibberish
How do we know who is who?

Oh and also your blog is A+
In case you were wondering

Hey, thanks! Aine, you need to get a code from me (that, unfortunately, I can only get when I'm at school. I do have my markbook at home, and so email me at melanie_stronach@wrdsb.on.ca and I can tell you your mark until you get your code from me at school.

Yes-- dates are up -- thanks for checking!

For the poetry explication, instead of having separate paragraphs about the tone, sound, usage devices can you explain these in separate paragraphs for each stanza?
For example: Paragraph one of the body would be about the tone, sound and usage devices used in stanza one. Paragraph two of the body would be about the tone, sound and usage devices used in stanza two....and so on.
at 9:28 am on Apr 17, 2011
Yes, Emily, that would work just fine.
karissa saidat 3:21 pm on Apr 19, 2011
the explication due date says it was on sunday at 12:00. and you said that that wasn't right...so is it due tonight at 12:00, or tomorrow noon, or tomorrow at midnight?
Ms Stronach saidat 10:28 am on Apr 20, 2011
As I said in class, ignore the times in TURNITIN, stick with what I say in class. Due Wed 20th 12 pm
Dylan Horst saidat 2:18 pm on Apr 20, 2011
Can we he and him for the narator instead of saying the narator?
at 2:18 pm on Apr 20, 2011
sorry can we say...
Ms Stronach saidat 8:20 pm on Apr 20, 2011
yes, use narrator the first time and occasionally thereafter, but you can use the universal he . You could also occasionally use the word speaker as well.

Do we have any homework from Thursday the 21?
Ms Stronach saidat 9:27 pm on Apr 22, 2011

Grace Adams saidat 7:05 pm on May 27, 2011
how do we access the virtual library from home?
Emily Warren saidat 8:47 am on May 29, 2011
For our Macbeth essay are we allowed to use other internet sources other than Macbeth Navigator and the Virtual Library?
For example: using a quote from an author of a book who is quoted on http://www.shmoop.com/macbeth/duncan.html - I know I should go to the original source (book) but I can't get a copy of it or view its entire contents on the internet.
Are we allowed to use sparknotes to quote off of?
at 10:12 am on May 29, 2011
I put the userid and password on the board on Friday. wrdsbvlib inquire I think. If that doesn't work, ask another student who wrote it down. Go to school webpage. Go to library. Look at Quicklinks to find Virtual library
Ms Stronach saidat 10:19 am on May 29, 2011
Emily, if you are using more than one electronic source, and one print source, then you could go off of the Virtual Library. Just be really careful of some of the regular Googled sites. Your work will be more respected when you quote someone of some authority. Same issue with Sparknotes. It is not seen as an incredibly serious source, but it's not the worst out there . . . but if it's one of several secondary sources you use, then that will not undermine the integrity of your work too much. I couldn't imagine ever quoting Sparknotes or Coles Notes or Jeeves or ASKME or some site like that for a university paper. However, NOT citing it and still using the ideas is worse:-). I'd only be using these sources because the stuff is actually really good (well, I myself actually wouldn't use them), not because I was too lazy to use a good database, of course. Your second question about the indirect source will be a challenge to cite, but we can figure it out!

Mrs. Stronach, for my Macbeth essay I have two very long paragraphs and was wondering if I could omit my third short one!??
Karley Schaefer saidat 4:46 pm on Dec 22, 2011
Also Ms. Stronach, how do I encorporate a quotation from someone famous because I wasnt' quite sure? that's how I am starting my essay and I just wondered if this was the correct formatting: The essential thing is not knowledge, but character (Joseph Le Conte). If you could let me know Thanks!
Karley Schaefer saidat 7:23 pm on Dec 22, 2011
