The April issue of Mesoamerican Herpetology (Volume 5, Number 1) has been published. At the present time we are not accepting submissions, but the website will remain open for anyone to view or download PDFs of all thecontributions that haveappeared in the journal. We also plan to keep updating the Taxonomic List for Mesoamerica (see lower left of this page).Currently, we are seeking avenues to maintain the journal viable into the future (see attachment). Porras, Managing EditorMesoamerican Herpetology is a peer-reviewed, open-access, electronic journal dedicated to the study of the herpetofauna of Mexico and Central America. Its purpose is to (1) promote herpetological research throughout the region, (2) provide an outlet for the publication of noteworthy papers and notes, and (3) develop a greater level of interaction among biologists, students, conservationists, and other interested parties throughout the region.Manuscripts on a wide variety of herpetological topics will be considered, including those on taxonomy, systematics, phylogeography, biogeography, conservation, evolution, life history, ecology, behavior, diet, reproductive biology, physiology, diseases, venoms, field studies, techniques, and herpetoculture. Submissions must represent a significant contribution to the field of herpetology for consideration in the journal.The length of manuscripts can be as brief as single paragraph notes on natural history (photographs are encouraged) or distribution, or as long as taxonomic monographs.Information generally found in newsletters, such as announcements for new publications, conservation updates, promotions for upcoming meetings, regional employment opportunities, and a host of other issues will not be included in the journal, but will be posted on this website.
