GRALISE is a prescription medicine used to treat pain after shingles, or postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).1 Once-daily dose of GRALISE, taken with your evening meal, can help manage pain through the night and day.1-4 What makes GRALISE different? Other treatments with gabapentin empty from the stomach quickly, but GRALISE features technology to optimize delivery into the small intestines where the medicine can be absorbed.1,2,4,5 Why only once a day? The delivery technology of GRALISE allows for a gradual release of medication. When taken with the evening meal, GRALISE is designed to release gradually into your body while you sleep.1,2,4,5 Not an actual patient. These signals protect you.7 The shingles virus can damage nerves and cause them to send the wrong signals to your brain. The signals make the brain “think” that part of your body is hurt. The result is postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).7 What is pain after shingles? Pain after shingles can affect your emotional well-being, your sleep, your ability to carry out your daily activities, and your desire to participate in social activities.8 There are an estimated 1 million cases of shingles in the US each year. About 10% to 13% of people who get shingles will experience pain after shingles.9,10 Not an actual patient. INDICATIONS AND USAGE GRALISE® (gabapentin) is a prescription medicine used in adults, 18 years and older, to treat pain from damaged nerves (neuropathic pain) that follows healing of shingles (a painful rash that comes after a herpes zoster infection). It is not known if GRALISE is safe and effective in children under 18 years of age with postherpetic pain. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION Do not take GRALISE if you are allergic to gabapentin or any of the ingredients in GRALISE. Do not change your dose or stop taking GRALISE without talking with your healthcare provider. If you stop taking GRALISE suddenly, you may experience side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider about how to stop GRALISE slowly. Like other antiepileptic drugs, gabapentin, the active ingredient in GRALISE, may cause suicidal thoughts or actions in a very small number of people, about 1 in 500. However, it is not known if GRALISE is safe and effective in people with seizure problems (epilepsy). Therefore, GRALISE should not be used in place of other gabapentin products. You may have a higher chance for dizziness, sleepiness, or serious breathing problems if these medicines are taken with GRALISE.
