JUSTICE FOR ALL

Over the past 20 years, Legal Aid West Virginia has:

Assisted
more than

500,000

WEST VIRGINIANS
ACROSS ALL 55 COUNTIES.

Of those more than 500,000 West Virginians impacted by our work, approximately

1/3

WERE
CHILDREN.

Protection from domestic violence, & family law issues arising out of domestic violence, have accounted for over

1/2

OF OUR
LEGAL CASES.

For 20 years, the Legal Aid Family of staff, volunteers, donors and partner organizations have been working cooperatively to ensure justice for all, based on a shared set of core community values.

CORE COMMUNITY VALUE

We Keep Each
Other Safe.

All West Virginians deserve to feel safe—safe from domestic abuse, from neglect, from stalking, and from exploitation. At Legal Aid, we not only provide meaningful legal interventions that protect the vulnerable but, together with our partner organizations, offer the supportive services necessary for survivors to build back their lives.

CORE COMMUNITY VALUE

We Protect the Vulnerable.

No one deserves to be ripped off, cheated, or deceived. Particularly not those have little to begin with. We help thousands of seniors, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable West Virginians restore what has been taken or unjustly denied from them.

CORE COMMUNITY VALUE

We Break Down Barriers.

We’ve all faced obstacles, and we all likely know how problems that seem insurmountable can often be overcome with support. At Legal Aid, we help people in recovery and others seeking to get their lives back on track with removing legal barriers that affect their ability to work, drive, and renew family relationships.

CORE COMMUNITY VALUE

We work together.

As a community, the good we can do is often determined by the quality of our cooperation and collaboration with others. The Legal Aid family—including our partner organizations, volunteers, and donors—has helped us develop new and innovative programs to further our goal of justice for all West Virginians.

“Legal Aid West Virginia has worked toward justice for all since we became a statewide organization 20 years ago. We celebrate our 20th year reflecting on our Legal Aid family across West Virginia: the over 10,000 West Virginians we help every year, the more than 160 staff members, our volunteers across the state, and our community of lawyers, partners, donors and friends who are vital to our work.”
