Help us make sure the Statutory Inquiry into the Government’s handling of the Covid 19 pandemic holds them truly to account.

We are a group of over 6,000 people personally bereaved by Covid-19 and we are campaigning for lessons to be learned from our losses in order to save lives during the remainder of the Covid-19 pandemic and any future pandemics the country faces. Since December 2020 we have formally constituted ourselves as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and we have since been able to fundraise in order to recruit a small staff team who ensure that our members and volunteers are well-supported and our work is as effective as it can be.

Having secured statutory public inquiries in the UK and Scotland, we are now seeking to secure devolved inquiries in Wales and Northern Ireland. We are campaigning to ensure that lived experience is at the heart of the inquiries, and that the lessons learned from the inquiries result in changes in public policy. 

We provide an effective voice for bereaved families. We are a central part of public discourse around the pandemic and    are shaping the way it is handled through media appearances, engagement with policymakers and partnership working.

We seek to ensure that bereaved families are adequately supported through investment in appropriate and effective bereavement support. We are fighting for families to be at the heart of efforts to memorialise and remember the pandemic, including through the maintenance of the National Covid Memorial Wall, which we bought into being.

Every single UK citizen deserves to understand how and why those in charge of our public institutions were unable to prevent so many deaths and such widespread heartbreak.

We welcome the announcement of a Statutory Inquiry, but it can’t wait until Spring 2022.

Important lessons are better learnt now, while recollections are fresh and evidence hard to hide.

A rapid review stage to make sure that changes can be made ahead of any further waves. A guarantee that bereaved families will be involved in the selection of an appropriate Chair.
