CrossCurrents Fly Shop in Helena and Craig, Montana

1Two Locations to ServeSince 1994, our original fly shop has been at the same location in Downtown Helena and is open year round.  In 2001, we opened our second fly shop on the Missouri River in the tiny trout town of Craig, Montana. Our Craig shop is open seasonally from the end of March through October.2Rental Boats-RaftsOur Craig store is the location for all of our Boat Rentals.  We rent Drift Boats, Rafts (for fishing or fun), Single-Person Kick Boats, Inflatable Kayaks and Stand-up Paddle Boards (SUPs).  Most of our boats are used on the Missouri River but our rafts can be rented for the Smith River, Blackfoot River or other waters. We are your Smith River Experts!

3LodgingWe built a 2-story fly shop and motel right in the middle of the trout town of Craig, Montana to provide more room for our expanding Guide Service, retail business, boat rentals and to help provide much needed lodging for the Missouri River area.  Our retail fly shop is open from March through October.  However, our Craig lodging, is open all year long.

The 2022 Craig Caddis Fest will be held on Saturday, August 28th from about 3pm to dark with food starting at 4:00pm (you gotta try Ben’s goodies from our 4 (yes, FOUR) Traeger Grills here at the shop!!

So far, 2022 has turned out to be one of the best fishing season on the Missouri in a long time! Good water flows (especially compared to last year!) and very high trout population (over 6K per mile in the upper river) and solid hatches has combined for excellent fishing -both on dry flies and subsurface.  It’s also made for a busy river so please bring you patience and tolerance as well as your fly rod! If you want to fish on the weekends, get a very early start or a late afternoon start to avoid the Splash and Giggle crowd at mid day.

We have been maxing out on our Shuttle capacity on many days so if you want to float and need a shuttle please call or stop by early in the morning.  On some busy weekend days, we have been cutting off shuttles by 10am!!  We also need at at least 4 to 5 hours to run your shuttle -so take your time on the river and enjoy it!

Still HIRING!!  We are looking for good peeps to be Shop Staff Members for this season and for 2023!  Check out our Employment Opportunities page for info and an Application.  We will be doing interviews all summer so please get your application in.  We have several of our awesome Staff returning and if you love to fly fish, love helping people and are someone of good character, we would love to talk with you
