We received word that these two were at risk of euthanasia due to Upper Respiratory Infections and we quickly rescued them from that terrible fate. it became apparent upon their arrival that there was even more going on than a regular URI. Both girls smelled as if they had been living in manure and they had congestion in both their nasal passages and in their chests. Bonbon, in particular, seemed to be having trouble seeing clearly as she would often bump into things and would "shadow" her sister in order to find her war around. They were taken to our very skilled exotic veterinarian who prescribed a cocktail of medications and diagnosed Bonbon with a detached retina due to infection. These were two very sick little girls. At present, Bonbon and Chocolatte are going to the vet once per month (approximately) for molar trims. It is hopeful that once they become better about eating hay that the frequency will decrease. And while we are heartbroken that such human-made problems exist for these sweet buns, we can only hope their story helps educate the world about the cruel nature of breeding.be very small. These two weigh only about two pounds each, and they have such small little heads with very large, soulful eyes. Unfortunately, such manipulations often come at a big price for these little creatures. Their little heads are too small to fit all their teeth in properly, resulting in extreme dental issues.
