Yearbook Distribution Yearbooks for the 2019 - 2020 school year will be distributed to current Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors in fall when we return to school. Grading Guidelines for APS High School Students Dear Parents and Guardians of APS High School Students,First, thank you for all that you have done to support your student in working toward completion of their assigned work during this Emergency Remote Learning Plan. We hope that your family is safe and well during this very challenging time.As you are aware, we are down to three weeks left in the school year before we complete our Emergency Remote Learning Plan in response to the unprecedented COVID-19 epidemic. We have been closely monitoring student course completion. As a result, the grading guidelines have been revised to address the needs of our high school students. Please see below for details about how your student’s grades will be determined.Students completing performance task courses Upon completion of a performance task, students will earn the higher grade between the performance task grade and the grade earned during 3rd quarter. If a student earned an ‘F’ in the 3rd quarter and does not successfully complete the performance task, the student will receive an ‘In Progress’ (IP) grade and will be eligible and highly encouraged to participate in APS summer school. If at the end of summer school the student has not successfully completed the performance task, the IP will be converted to an ‘Audit’ (AU) and will be recorded as the student’s final grade for that course.Students completing courses in Edgenuity Students must complete at least 50% of each Edgenuity course for a grade to be recorded. Previously assigned credit recovery Edgenuity courses need to be 100% complete. These courses need to meet 100% completion since they were assigned prior to COVID-19. Students will earn the higher grade between Edgenuity and the grade earned in the 3rd quarter. If a student earned an ‘F ’in the 3rd quarter and does not successfully complete the course(s) in Edgenuity, the student will receive an ‘In Progress’ (IP) grade and will be eligible and highly encouraged to participate in APS summer school. If at the end of summer school the student has not passed the Edgenuity course(s), the IP will be converted to an ‘Audit’ (AU) and will be recorded as the student’s final grade for that course.Additional notes Students who are concurrently enrolled in college courses will receive grades based on concurrent enrollment grading guidelines. An AU does not earn credit for the course, but will not adversely affect the student’s GPA. Summer school will begin for assigned students on Monday, June 1, and will be instructed through APS Avenues.If you are not sure what grades your student earned during 3rd quarter, please check Infinite Campus Parent Portal or reach out to staff members at your student’s school.If your student is experiencing difficult circumstances, please contact your student’s counselor to discuss your situation. The last day for work submission is Thursday, May 21.We look forward to continuing to partner with you to support your student’s success. On May 23rd links will be posted here for all grade levels to participate in virtual yearbook signing.Summer School4th Quarter Classes that need completing- Students (any grade) who need to complete Quarter 4 classes for credit per the Grading Guidelines Communications will be enrolled in Summer School.New Credit Recovery Classes- 9th-11th graders who would like to participate in Summer School in order to work on 0.25-0.5 credits of credit recovery classes and who don’t already have credit recovery classes on their schedule should contact their counselor.Lunch Account InformationIf you have questions regarding your student’s lunch account - please send an email to Donna McClary at dlmcclary@aurorak12.org.She is the Nutrition Services Accountant and she can help answer any questions that you have.If your student has money on their account - you have 3 options. When you email Donna - please let her know what you would like to do.1 - Transfer the amount to a younger sibling at another APS School. Students name - APS School they attend -2 - You can donate the money to help with negative balances of other RHS students. Send Donna an email stating you would like to donate the money to help with negative balances.3 - You can receive a refund in the form of a check. It takes 2 to 3 weeks for the check to be processed and mailed. Please include your Full name and mailing address for the check.SAT Testing for JuniorsThe state announced they plan to have an SAT in the fall for current juniors. The test will be during a school day. More information to come.Accuplacer Testing/ CE Courses for the 2020-21 School YearStaff from CCA and APS are working to set up a plan for testing in the future. There are no dates at this time. Staff are also working to identify students who will qualify for CE courses based on waivers. More information to come.
