Community health worker at training to provide injectable contraceptives in Ethiopia.By training front line health workers, like community health workers, the Bixby Center reaches women who cannot easily access clinics. Musanze District Youth Center opens in RwandaThe center empowers young people to make informed reproductive health decisions. Services include education and training in IT, sexuality, reproductive health, employment, and a full clinic. During the summer, one of Bixby s interns, Iris Lin, gives sexual health education seminar at a high school while she was interning with a NGO called Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) in Kampala, Uganda. Dr. Ndola presenting findings on a study on maternal mortality in Uganda as evidence to a landmark lawsuit against the Ugandan government.After a long nine years of waiting, the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) finally received the judgement in the famous Petition 16 maternal health case on Aug 19, 2020. The judgment recognizes basic maternal health care services and emergency obstetric care. The Bixby Center co-authored a report which was used as key evidence in this case. The Court ordered the government to implement several immediate financial and structural remedies, several of which were recommended by the Bixby Center in the report.
