Our StoryRed Antelope Films was founded by Academy Award nominated filmmakers Jennifer Redfearn and Tim Metzger. The press has described their unique filmmaking style as “engrossing,” “poignant,” “beautifully cinematic” and “intensely human.” Separately, Tim and Jennifer have each built a diverse body of work around the world over the past ten years – Tim as a cinematographer and Jennifer as a director and producer. They first met in 2008 and joined forces in the South Pacific to follow the relocation efforts of some of the world’s first climate refugees. That film – Sun Come Up – was nominated for an Academy Award in 2011, broadcast on HBO, and screened in theaters across the US and over 50 festivals worldwide. They’ve been together ever since. Their second film, Tocando la Luz, won the Charles E. Guggenheim Award at the Full Frame Documentary Festival and aired on PBS. Their latest film is the feature documentary APART.Merging cinematic vision with an authentic and human storytelling approach, Jennifer and Tim bring their unique experiences to each project, be it theatrical, television, or branded content. They are currently developing two new documentaries.Jennifer Redfearn is an Academy Award nominated documentary director and producer. She directed the 2011 Academy Award nominated film, Sun Come Up, about a small island community losing their homeland to rising seas. Sun Come Up screened on HBO after a successful theatrical run in thirty U.S. cities. Her recent film, Tocando La Luz (Touch the Light), tells the story of three blind Cuban women and their fight for independence. It premiered at the Full Frame Documentary Festival where it won the Charles E. Guggenheim Award. Recent career highlights also include field directing the 2015 SXSW audience award winner, Landfill Harmonic, and producing several short multimedia stories for MediaStorm. Jennifer has received a fellowship from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and grants from the NEA, Fork Films, Jerome Foundation, Chicken Egg Pictures, NYSCA, and NYWIFT. Her films have been supported by ITVS, IFP, and the Hot Docs Forum. Jennifer has previously taught documentary filmmaking at Columbia University and NYU and is currently the Director of the Documentary Program at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Her most recent film is the feature documentary APART.Tim Metzger is an Academy Award and Emmy nominated cinematographer and filmmaker with over 15 years of experience filming documentaries, commercials and fiction films. He has filmed in more than 20 countries for networks and clients including HBO, PBS, National Geographic, Discovery, BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, TED, Lincoln/Chrysler, Puma, and San Pellegrino. Tim was nominated for an Academy Award for Sun Come Up (HBO) and received three Emmy nominations, beginning with Lee Harvey Oswald: 48 Hours to Live (History). He served as director of photography on several Emmy-nominated documentary series including RISING: Rebuilding Ground Zero (Discovery/Dreamworks), executive produced by Steven Spielberg, and the National Geographic hit The Story of God with Morgan Freeman. Tim is known for his ability to blend the authentic intimacy of verité filmmaking with an eye for cinematic scope and movement.
