Introducing the
MIT Sloan CIO Symposium
First Digital Edition

In April Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said: “We’ve seen two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months.”

Much of the workforce has been forced into the digital space, a major shift, and leadership must adapt. The pandemic proved how vital a CIO is to an organization as they deploy technology to benefit employees and end users. More and more CIOs are becoming accountable for the digital performance of enterprises around the world.

The leadership of CIOs is helping enterprises adapt to the big reset. We are adapting as well. For 16 years, the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium was a one-day event on the MIT campus in May.

The 17th annual Symposium in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the ongoing health crisis, the in-person symposium will not return in 2021. Instead, we will introduce the first digital edition.

The 2021 program will begin on April 5 and end on May 28.

Week #1 will be dedicated to introducing the program and allowing you to orient to the virtual environment.Weeks #2 - #7 will feature traditional chats and panel discussions.Week #8 will end the program with a town hall style meeting of all participants. This will be a unique and powerful event for participants, partners and sponsors.

In response to audience feedback during last year’s Digital Learning Series, panels will be limited to 60-90 minutes. While the panel discussions will be similar to the Digital Learning Series, the 2021 program will also encourage attendees to participate in virtual round-table discussions about panels as well as other topics of interest. While the core program will be familiar, we will also be innovating and experimenting.

Everyone who purchases a ticket to the 2021 Symposium will also be invited to our new online community, which will be hosted on the Mighty Network platform. This community can be accessed on the web as well as with an app that you can download to any mobile device. As a member of the community, you’ll be able to connect with others, participate in discussions, watch recordings, and attend panel discussions from anywhere.

The Symposium ticket entitles you to 2 years of community membership. In addition to the Symposium activities, you’ll be invited to attend discussions and events hosted by Sponsors and Partners. Some of these events will continue throughout the year. Our community will be dedicated to helping you build relationships with other technology executives year-round.
